Another fantastic day at our flagship Ryder Cup Event!! Thank you to everyone who came and well done to both teams in what was a keenly contested battle played in great spirit!
THE RYDER CUP IS BACK IN SAFE HANDS THOUGH AS TEAM GB RE-CLAIMED THE CUP BEATING EUROPE BY A SCORE OF 9 AND A HALF TO 3 AND A HALF! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Current score is 5-4 to Team Europe!!

SEGGS CORONAVIRUS UPDATE!!!

As we all know these are worrying and uncertain times and I feel it only fair to provide an update on the society and our approach concerning the Coronavirus pandemic to our members.

Having spoken with a few of our venues including Tudor Park their stance at the moment is very much we are open and carrying on and happy to host our events at the moment. On this basis I am preparing to carry on with the events at the moment.

The health of our members is of upmost importance though and therefore I would like to implement the following additional policies to be adhered to by all members attending events to help prevent contact/contamination:-

1. Leave the Pin in Approach on all holes.
2. No hand shakes/person to person contact - verbal greetings encouraged only
3. Venues to provide sanitiser
4. Venues to provide cutlery with food when it is brought out
5. All players to wash their hands when entering and leaving clubhouse/facilities and pre and post eating/drinking.

I do understand that even with the above measures being taken that some members may be reluctant to attend events at the moment but what I would ask is that if this is the case please can you let me know as soon as possible. In addition if any member has either one of a persistent dry cough or temperature/fever and/or have a family member that they live with who have either of these symptons may I remind you that you need to not attend the events unless you have been in self-isolation for 14 days or more and the symptons have cleared up.
If any of the above is unclear or you are concerned as to whether you should attend or not, please do get in contact with me and I will advise accordingly.
Of course the advice and information surrounding the virus is changing everyday so who knows what the case will be come the event but we can only go on what we already know and therefore at the moment we are planning to go ahead. Any change will be communicated to you as soon as I am made aware of it. Any questions as always please shout!!!! All the best Simon!

The final round for this year’s order of merit and the tenure of myself as Club Captain, is fast approaching.

The round will take place at The London Golf Club, Stanstead Lane, Sevenoaks. TN15 7EH. The cost of the day will be £95 for members (£30 club subsidy) and £125 for guests.

Final numbers and payment by Sunday 1st September. This is the date set by the Golf Club and once you have confirmed you will be liable for payment.

A full English Breakfast will be served at 10:30am with first tee off at 11:40. Please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements. Apologies for the start time Roger but this is the earliest they would allow.

I would like to thank you all for your support during this year’s competition. It has been a roller coaster ride with some good, and definitely some bad golfing days for myself.
I will hand over to Simon Smith at the end of this season. Our Handicap Secretary is currently working on the seasons scores and I hope to be able to notify you of the standings next week. The system we were using has crashed and all attempts to rectify it have failed. We hope to introduce a new system for next year. (One that sees your handicap increase as well as come down !) In the meantime, Phil is resorting to doing it manually – Thank you Phil.

Yes – I hear you say, the Brits are one short ! If anyone has any ideas as to who we could co-opt onto the team please speak to Simon or Ben asap.

Please meet at the East Sussex National Golf Club, Little Horsted, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 5ES at 09:30hrs for Breakfast, Banter and the announcement of the pairings. First tee of will be at 11:40Hrs. The game will be followed by a Carvery Dinner and celebrations into the night.

The cost of the day will be £95 and will include Breakfast, Game and Dinner. The price is also inclusive of a subsidised shirt, a goodie pack and medals for the winners. Please wherever possible can you pay prior to the game by internet banking to the usual account. SEGGS 20-25-42 Acc 53495906, or you can still pay on the day

If you wish a guest to join us for food and have not already notified me then please do as guest meals need to be booked 14 days prior to the event.

Several of us are staying overnight and having a game on Monday morning. Again, if you wish to join us (at a cost of £55 for the round) and have not told me, please do. Payment for this will be on the day.
