The summer has been rather good…

The summer has been rather good of late with this mega rare Oxfordshire mirror being the highlight. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😁🎣

New avid end tackle, with some new bits im testing including some rather good hooks.

All coupled with the ever faithful Trent baits Sweet TMP Tigers Hookbaits over a bed of mixed particles.

So sad to hear that Sir Pete has passed away, spent many an hour in his company fishing over the years, but one particular session comes to mind, it was at his 60th Birthday celebration and we were camping and fishing on Korda and up the pub over the weekend to celebrate his and Dougals birthdays, a great time was had by all and sundry and it was a who’s who of carp fishing over that weekend.

Pete and I decided to stay on for another night at Korda lake and everyone else left leaving just the two of us that morning recolecting what a great weekend we had had over a cup of tea.

It was in the quiet of that morning that he proclaimed that this day was actually his 60th birthday and it was just him and me sitting there on his birthday having a cup of tea.

Something I’ll always remember with fondness.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was talking to him about all things fishing at the carp society horseshoe event and we remembered that session on his 60th birthday.

Not only one of the best anglers of his era, he’s was also one of the nicest people ever to have walked the earth, he really did have time for everyone which is something that struck me that not many who have risen to the stardom that Sir Pete did have.

The word Legend is often banded about, but Sir Pete Springate was more than worthy of the name tag.

RIP Sir Pete and thanks for all the inspiration for anglers of my era, carp fishing has lost one of its statesmen, but for has gained another angel.

Special memories for this capture from the park lake not only because it was a biggun but because my old mate Ting Tong took the pictures and thought it was apt to remember him on this day of all days.

Shine bright like a diamond my old friend 💎 never forgotten ❤️
