🌟One Year at the UK Sports Institute🌟

This month marks one year since I joined 💪

I’ve been fortunate to work with a number of incredible athletes from over 20 sports across Olympic, Paralympic, Winter Olympic and professional environments 🏅

Being able to contribute to so many athletes rehab journeys over the last 9 months, as part of the Performance Rehab Team within the Intensive Rehab Unit (IRU) has been both fascinating and extremely rewarding! 🫶

Here’s a little update on my current coaching/work situation 🆕

There’s been a lot of change in my life over the last couple months..

I moved back to the UK from Sydney to sign a professional rugby contract with in the English Championship 🏉

Off the back of this I decided to apply for a Strength & Conditioning position at the , which I’m delighted to say I was successful in securing and started 6 weeks ago! I am responsible for working with elite athletes across multiple Olympic, Winter Olympic & Paralympic sports 💪🇬🇧

I have also started coaching strength & conditioning classes locally 🏋🏻‍♀️

Additionally, I am still operating my online coaching service, for anyone looking for bespoke programming and coaching 💻

TRY THIS DUMBBELL PUSH DROPSET 💪

Perform the following exercises back to back, using the same dumbbells (choose dumbbells you can roughly do 12 reps with on seated dumbbell shoulder press) with no rest; immediately adjusting the bench angle after each exercise.

1️⃣ Seated (80-90 degrees) DB Shoulder Press x 8-12
2️⃣ Incline (45 degrees) DB Bench Press x 8-10
3️⃣ DB (Flat) Bench Press x Max Reps (RPE 9 / 1 RIR)

RPE 9 / 1 RIR = You could perform 1 more rep

The above drop-set is an example of a mechanical drop-set which is when instead of reducing the weight as you fatigue, you alter the mechanics, to allow you to continue the set. The goal is to extend the set being the point of muscular fatigue by changing leverage, range of motion for resistance type, to put yourself in a more advantageous position.

TRY THIS DUMBBELL PUSH DROPSET 💪

COMBINED 60KG WEIGHT LOSS 📉 🤯

Karen and Peter both recently hit HUGE weight loss milestones, with Karen now having lost over 20KG and Peter now having lost over 40KG, a combined 60KG between them over the last 3 years⬇️

Over the last 3 years working together, these guys have slowly implemented significant lifestyle changes in order be where they are today. Massive improvements in their activity levels with both attending the gym between 2-4 times per week and making sure to get their daily steps in; and they’ve also made huge strides in their nutrition, eating a more balanced diet. 🏋🏻‍♀️🍎

Nothing we have done over the last few years has been drastic, Karen and Peter still enjoy living a very normal lifestyle and attend social events and days out at the rugby, whilst being stronger, fitter, healthier, and more confident than ever! 💪

It goes without saying that reaching such milestones isn’t possible without a huge amount of commitment and dedication, and they deserve a MASSIVE well done for that! 🙌
