Join Friendly Footsteps – MWG’s New Walking Group! 🚶‍♀️

Magherafelt Women’s Group is delighted to launch Friendly Footsteps, a new walking group designed to bring local women together for gentle exercise, good conversation and improved wellbeing.

Whether you're looking to become more active, meet new people, or simply enjoy some time outdoors, Friendly Footsteps offers a welcoming and supportive space for women of all abilities.

📅 Starting: Wednesday 22nd July
⏰ Meet at: 10.45am for an 11.00am start
📍 Meeting Point: Magherafelt Women’s Group

Our first walk will be a gentle 1-mile route around Magherafelt town, taking approximately 30 minutes. The route includes a few gentle inclines but is suitable for most fitness levels. After the walk, join us back at MWG for light refreshments and a friendly chat.

As the group develops, we hope to introduce a variety of walking routes to cater for different interests and ability levels, with walks lasting up to two hours.

So, put on your walking shoes and come along for some craic, companionship and fresh air. Help us get Friendly Footsteps off to a great start and take positive steps towards better health and wellbeing together.

Yoga Nidra/ Shavasana is the best!

"In the sacred silence of Savasana," Judith Hanson Lasater wrote in "Meditation Intensive," "it is the only time in the day I'm doing nothing and creating nothing, serving no one outwardly, but serving everyone inwardly by bringing myself to that state."

Shavasana, written also as Savasana and शवासन, translates to Co**se Pose. (Śava means co**se, and Asana means posture.) The pose's roots extend deep into yoga tradition. In the 15th century, it appeared in the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika," a Sanskrit manual on yoga: "Lying down on the ground supine, like a co**se," as the text has been translated, "is called Shavasana. It eliminates tiredness and promotes calmness of the mind."

Shavasana offers us a moment of pause, a place to come back to ourselves—mind, body, and spirit.
