What an incredible and memorable weekend👏
We were delighted to welcome participants, speakers, performers, volunteers and visitors to our USA 250 event, celebrating the often-overlooked contribution of Ulster-Scots women to the story of 1776 and the founding of the United States.
The event brought history to life through engaging presentations, cultural displays, historical re-enactments, music, discussion and shared learning. It was particularly rewarding to see people of all ages exploring the historic connections between Ulster and America and learning more about the individuals and communities who helped shape that story.
This project created opportunities for research, volunteering, cultural engagement and international partnership, while strengthening awareness of our shared heritage and identity.
A special thank you to the fantastic 19th Street Band who travelled all the way from the United States to share their music and help bring the transatlantic connections of our story to life.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Killymoon Castle for hosting the event in such a magnificent and fitting setting. The historic surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for exploring the connections between Ulster and America and greatly enhanced the experience for everyone who attended.
We are also extremely grateful to the Department for Communities through the USA–NI 250 Fund for their support in making this project possible. Their investment enabled us to deliver a unique programme that celebrated history, culture, learning and international connections.
