THE DANGER OF BEING 30-40 YEARS OLD 👨🏻

Typically most men & women put on the most weight when they are between the ages of 30-40 ⚖️

This is because we get comfortable. Cliche is that you are married or close to it, maybe you’ve got a couple of young kids that take all your energy, you are working all the time to climb the ladder at work 🧨

These things suck the energy out of us, and this is when our own priorities get neglected. Our health & Fitness is put back down the ladder of importance 🎢

We sacrifice the one thing that everyone values - health - for other things that take our time ⏰

On an aeroplane, you’re told to put on your own oxygen mask first before helping anyone else. This is because we need to help ourselves before we can truly help others ✈️

If you are between these ages, these are the most critical in your life. You either slip down the slippery slope of letting things consume you, or you develop habits that are part of your routine ⛷

Develop the habit of getting out to the gym twice a week at least.

You AREN’T taking time away from your kids to do that. You are ADDING time to your own life, which in turn, benefits ALL involved ✌🏻

Not getting results from the same kind of training any more....?

After working with 150+ men & women last year on their fitness goals, I started to notice something.

Men & women over the age of 30 put too little emphasis on their activity outside of training

And for anyone over 40+, well, time to rest & recover becomes so important too

Too much activity and your sleep will be disrupted & not to mention your joints

You don’t need to crush yourself into the ground each session, walk 100,000 steps each week & go strict low carb to get results

Working with a coach to develop a program that’s challenging...

But doesn’t leave you a broken version of yourself is key to enjoying your training

It’s easy to hit the gym with intensity once in a while.....

But once you’re [over 30] a lot of thought needs to go into your recovery

Half assing my way through fatherhood!

I have half assed my way through a lot of things in my life - just ask my wife when it comes to housework 🤣

But one thing that’s made me more disciplined than ever is the relationships I’m going to have with my kids when they’re in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s.......

So that means I have to give myself every chance to be around.... and not just around. But thriving. I want to be in the best possible shape physically, mentally, emotionally & relationally deep into my later years

That means doing the things that need to be done right now

✅ Showing up to exercise
✅ Showing up in my relationships
✅ Showing up for my mental health
✅ Showing up for those who need me

So it’s no problem being disciplined now, when it bears fruit later

Small actions now, matter.

Yesterday I was talking to my kids about confidence.
They were in their pyjamas and we were heading to the shop.

I told them, don’t worry about what you’re wearing, just walk with confidence

I can say this honestly, because the photo below is me at 15…..
when I use to cut my own hair.

Think about that.
Peak high school years.
Not even in a “cool” way either.

Somewhere between an Eminem hairline and Lloyd Christmas.

I’m not recommending this for the 15-year-olds in your life by the way 😂
But here’s the point:

Confidence comes from proof. I thought this looked cool. And that’s the only opinion I needed.

“I’m a fit person” — because you train consistently.
“I’m disciplined” — because your actions back it up.

Confidence isn’t something you pretend.
It’s something you build.

2026 can be the year you start stacking proof that you are who you say you want to be.

Build the proof.
The confidence follows.

And maybe leave the haircuts to the professionals…
(although I still cut my own hair now — for very different reasons 🧑🏻‍🦲)

P.S. Yes, that is a Milk Cup tracksuit.
