Wow, the junior competition was better than we could have hoped for. We had a fantastic turn out and some cracking fish were caught.🐟

Todd and Arlo Evans were the winners in the separate age categories.
The biggest fish caught was 1lb 13oz. 🎣

The Committee would like to share some thank yous to everyone who has helped make the day happen, we couldn't have done it without you.

Firstly thank you to the Railway Inn Llan for having us and opening up early for registration.

Today's the day! The Junior Competition is finally here.☀️

Registration starts at 9am at the Railway Inn, Llangynwyd.

Bring your rods, your energy, and your fighting spirit for a fun-filled day on the River Llynfi! 🐟

🎉 We’re especially excited to welcome the Mayor of Maesteg, who will be attending to present medals to all junior participants on the day! 🏅

📅 Saturday 25th April 2026
🕘 Check-in from: 9:00am
🎣 Competition: 10:00am – 2:00pm
📍 Location: Railway Inn, Llangynwyd

💰 Entry:
Free for junior members
£5 for non-members (club membership required to fish, join on the day)
🏆 Prizes: 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals
👵🧒 All participants must be accompanied by an adult
⚠️ Fishing methods: Fly fishing and worming only
🔞 Age limit: 16 and under

😃 You’ll meet fellow young anglers, enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Llynfi Valley, and be part of a special community celebration marking 200 years of Maesteg.
