A great start to the year with a 6-3 win in the snow 🥶

It was a fairly scrappy opening 20 minutes with both teams trying to get used to the conditions but we slowly started to dominate possession which helped us create a couple of chances on goal.

We eventually got the first goal of the game when Jayde tapped in at the back post following a corner.

Sutton equalised shortly after with a nice lob from 25 yards out that no keeper would have been able to save.

Not to be deterred, we quickly regained our composure with two quick fire goals from Isla and Lucy - both of which were great finishes.

We continued to dominate in the second half and it didn’t take us long to get a fourth goal when Ash Robson scored her first goal for the team after coming through from our u16s. Alex and Molly Clarke got themselves on the scoresheet for the second game running.

The player of the game was shared between Elo and Mollie Hewitt. Elo kept the game ticking over, made a real impact in the final third and almost scored in what could be her last game for us 🥲 Mollie, who is only 16, controlled the game in the second half. She was always available for the pass and was involved in a lot of the good combination play on show this afternoon ⭐️

Manager Kieran Stockton said “Despite the conditions, the ladies played their best football of the season. We translated a lot of what we’ve been working on in training throughout the season and took control early. 6 good goals, we should have had a few more but happy overall with how we played”

It’s been a long time coming but we’re buzzing with our first win of the season 💪3️⃣

It took us a little while to get going in the first half although we did create a few chances with Lucy using her pace to get in behind on the right wing to either get the cross in or to have a go herself. The breakthrough did come shortly before half time with Isla taking advantage of a goalkeeping error to poke the ball over the line.

We knew the second goal was crucial with Molly Clarke having some decent efforts on goal before Lucy made it 2-0 with a well taken finish.

This was the boost we needed and everything started to fall into place with further goals coming from Alex, Molly C (finally 😂), Charlotte and Maggie completing the scoring with a few minutes left.

Lucy was awarded PoTM who was a constant threat all day and played with the most confidence we’ve seen all season 👏🏻

Manager Kieran Stockton had this to say after the game “We’ve been very competitive defensively all year but struggled to put it together going forward. Today, especially in the 2nd half, we played with a freedom we haven’t seen this season. Hopefully this is a turning point and we can kick on from here”

The sky is the limit for this group of girls! 🙌

Just over a year ago they were a brand new team, made up of girls we’d brought through from wildcats. Went through spells of not scoring, not winning but the girls never gave up and never stopped working. Over the summer something just clicked, a real desire to win was instilled not parent led, not coach led but player led. We got knocked out of a tournament on penalties and had devastation written across faces. The girls vowed it wouldn’t happen again and won our remaining two tournaments.

They took that spirit into the new season. Going unbeaten in seeding games before being placed in the top division for their age group locally. The top division is tough, we lost our first two games but again that only spurred the girls on and the commitment, the willingness to learn in training took on another level. We had County in the cup this past weekend, a team we lost against the week prior. It sounds cliche but every player wanted it more. Every girl ran their heart out, every player played their best game but nearing the end we were 2-1 down despite having the majority of the play. I was already preparing my post match breakdown of how proud I was despite the result when our LW cut in with the last kick of the game and thundered in an equaliser top bins ⚽️

Typical us fashion we miss our first penalty but fantastic goalkeeping we keep them out and score our next few to move into the next round. There’s so much more to come and if the girls keep showing the same level of dedication they can go far in this game!

Tonight a few of our players went along to the U11 Nancy Blues training session with each player taking a group each and helping to coach the girls through a well designed passing drill.

A big thank you to David for inviting us down, our players enjoyed it and we hope your players did too. 💛💙

Thank you for your support yesterday 💛💙 It was great to see some new faces down to watch the match, including players from our u8, u11 and u12 girls teams. Even though they are still at the start of their football journey, it’s really important for us to show the young girls at our club that there is a pathway all the way to the top.
