We all have our strengths… and we all have (at least) one thing in the gym that humbles us pretty quick 😅

For me, it’s always been the bench press.

Deadlift? Lovely.�Squat? We’re good.�Bench? Apparently my arms forget how to function.

For a long time, I told myself, “It is what it is,” and left it at that.

But over the last year, I decided to actually treat it like a priority. I followed a plan. I practiced consistently. I focused on technique. I tracked it properly.
And guess what?

I got stronger.

Not exactly groundbreaking science I know— but it’s a good reminder.

If you want to improve at something:�• Make a decision to work on it�• Follow a structured plan�• Stay consistent (even when it’s not your favourite thing)�• Be patient

Progress isn’t about talent. It’s about intention and consistency.

The same applies whether it’s your bench press, your fitness journey, or just building confidence in the gym.

Small improvements, done consistently, add up.

threw me into the pain cave this morning with an FTP test 🥵

It's been years since my last fitness test... and it felt like it 🤣

So, what's an FTP test?: It measures the highest average power you can sustain for about an hour while cycling. 🚴‍♂️🔥

Typically, it's a 20-minute all-out effort. Then, 95% of your average power becomes your FTP - a benchmark for accurate training zones and tracking progress.

Why did we do it?: Paul thought it was a good idea 🤣... and to program some 'off feet' cardio for my ultra prep. Now Paul has the info needed for my next training block.

We're doing it all again in 8 weeks 🥵

At Silk Fitness Therapy we’re delighted to have as part of the team 🏃🏻

I’ve been working with Paul personally for the last few weeks, and from first-hand experience I can’t speak highly enough of his quality as a coach 🤌🏻

If you’ve seen me run before, you’ll know my technique leaves a lot to be desired 🤣 but even after my very first session with Paul, it was improving.

Paul’s diary is now open and he’s taking on new clients (he also has an introductory offer for the first few), so if you’re looking to improve your running form or generally just want to move and feel better, then get in touch with Paul ASAP (I imagine his diary will be full in no time).

Ellie’s last session at SFT is done and dusted (for now 🤣) before she jets off around the world.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working along side Ellie for the last 18 months and watching how much she’s grown as both a coach, and a person has been incredible to witness.

From freshly qualified with no clients, to a booked out diary in no time whatsoever, to building an amazing community of women who she’ll continue to coach and support while she travels around the world.

I’m so very proud of what Ellie has accomplished, and she’s true testament to the “hard work pays off” mantra.

From all at SFT, thank you for being such a huge part of the team and we will miss you very much. We hope you have the BEST time and we’re looking forward to following your journey ✈️⛰️🧳

37 Days Out From The Manchester Marathon 😮‍💨

Oooo, 37 days, that’s not a lot is it 😅

On April 27th 2025 myself and will be taking on our biggest challenge yet with the Manchester Marathon.

We’ve gone from not being able to run for 5mins to (hopefully) being able to complete a marathon 😬

As we always do, we’re doing this to raise as much money as possible for the

The hospice need to fund raise £9,362 every single day keep there services free of charge to those in our community.

For myself and Sam, like many others, the hospice is a place we hold extremely close to our hearts and we understand from first hand experience how vital the service they provide is.

One day last week, one of my longest serving clients Fi .fiona said she wanted to learn a new skill.

Fi said she wanted to learn how to do the Olympic lifts (clean and press, snatches etc) and asked if I would help.

I had to be honest here and say that I wasn’t the coach to help her with this goal as I wouldn’t even know where to start.

Luckily for us, we know just the guy…… 🏋🏻‍♀️

This is Andy’s area of expertise. His attention to detail is second to none and he has a true passion for teaching people these complex kind of movements (and does so very well)

So Fi got in touch, and boom, booked in to get started the very next day 💪🏻

It’s been so cool to see how much Fi has already progressed in only two sessions and I can’t wait to see how far she goes while working with Andy.

Happy New Year from myself, and everyone at 🥂🎉

2024 was an absolute blast.

We’ve welcomed some amazing new members into our gym family as well growing our brilliant team of coaches to now include and .pt ❤️

New friendships have been made, personals best/targets have been smashed, and everyone continues to give it their all each time they enter the gym (and mostly with smiles on their faces too 😅🤣)

My first year as sole owner of the gym couldn’t have gone any better and that’s all down to our amazing community.

Free class 11am - 12pm - open to all non-members, free of charge ran by our brilliant coach if you’re interested in checking out the gym, now’s your time. (Message Ellie to book or send me a message)

After the class there will be refreshments provided by our wonderful friends and ☕️🍕

After this from 1-3pm we will be hosting an open gym where you can bring your friends and family down where there will be competitions to enter, prizes to be won and fun to be had 💪🏻
