Menorca 2026. We had a beautiful time in the Mediterranean sunshine. Edwin learned to swim, we rented a 4 wheel bike thing, swam in and cliff jumped into a supremely clear fish filled cove, saw Pont D'en Gil.

Daily temperature 25-28°C.
First day sunburn.

We didn't bring the weather back with us. Sorry!

The Lap. What a day. 75k, 2800m of elevation, 100,000 steps, 16:41:56.

Its 4 days on, and I'm still processing it in my brain!

The event was fantastically organised, well managed and staffed by happy helpful people. The course was beautiful (obviously!) And really well signed. You really don't need to be able to navigate for the lap.

Everyone i spoke to was in the same boat, we all had an amazing day, combining exposure and suffering with breathtaking views.

It was a very hard day though. You have to be prepared mentally as well as physically for an event of this length. I wasn't as fast as I wanted to be, but I never wanted to quit.

You have to take the rough with the smooth. You have to wait while 1200 people are all trying to use the same stile, you have to be patient while waiting to fill up your water at the aid stations, and you have to accept that nothing will change these things.

I'd gone into the lap hoping to finish in under 15 hours. I was well outside of this, but when you look into the numbers, they tell a different story. My moving time was 13:44:32. That will do for me!

I was supposed to run the yesterday. Still not quite fixed from ankle injury, so I volunteered instead. Car park duties first, then along with a couple of other lovely people, we set up and ran CP4 in Hathersage.

By this point, people had already covered 56k of self-navigated peak district trails, including lords seat, kinder scout, jacobs ladder, win hill and the infamous bamford clough climb. Some looked like they'd just jogged parkrun, others not so much!

Everyone was amazing, polite, friendly and happy, it was fantastic!

We closed the checkpoint at 19:45, when the last 2 on course were accounted for. We had 7 retirements, but only 2 for the missed cut-off and none through injury fortunately. Everyone was in their own space and knew their limitations.

Amazing event with cragrunners, I'll definitely be doing the 70 next year!

Another Trail run looking 2 paces ahead. Nice to see deer and mouse, but not much else!

Soaked to the skin by the end. With hard runs like this, summer running should be a breeze!

What a night!! really live up to their name! Despite problems with general personal disorganisation and struggles with headtorches, the run went off pretty well. Ran well, didn't fall on the tricky ground. Shoes were a dream on the rocks and grass and mud.

No UFOs were seen!

I've always been a big believer that night riding makes you more sensitive to what's going on under your bike. Without all the usual visual cues, your mind has to react more quickly to the inputs from your hands and feet.

This translates into summer riding, making your reactions quicker to things that happen that you didn't necessarily see.

most over subscribed run. Having missed out last year, I was determined to get on this year, and it didn't disappoint! A great course, well organised event and even a water stop added due to the heat.

Maybe if I'd been closer to the front, I wouldn't have got lungs full of dust, but oh well!
