The wisdom of transition…
As summer begins to soften into autumn, we find ourselves in a natural time of transition. The mornings become cooler, the evenings draw in and the world around us slowly begins to change. Summer brings a sense of expansion, more light, movement, connection and time outdoors. As we move towards autumn, we naturally begin to turn inward.
Yoga reminds us that change is a natural part of life. Our bodies, breath, thoughts and experiences are constantly moving and evolving. Rather than needing everything to stay the same, our practice can teach us to become more comfortable with this movement.
in yoga philosophy, life is understood as a constant expression of consciousness , a rhythm of movement and stillness, expansion and contraction. The changing seasons reflect this beautifully.
As summer comes to an end, it can also be a lovely time to return to our practice. Perhaps summer has shifted our usual routines, or given us space to step away from the mat. As autumn approaches, we can gently find our way back. Not with pressure or expectation, but simply as an opportunity to reconnect, with our body, our breath, our mind and with ourselves.
Our practice gives us a space to pause and notice where we are right now.So as we move into a new season, perhaps ask yourself, What would it feel like to return to your mat? Not to achieve anything, but simply to create a little space to breathe, move, listen and reconnect.
Like the seasons, our practice will naturally ebb and flow. There is always an opportunity to begin again.
