On Friday, student pilot Niall Brady reached an exciting training milestone at Strubby South Airfield, completing his first full flights in the Grob G103 Twin II Acro [G-DEXA].

​Flying alongside instructor Richard Walker, Niall managed the entire sortie from takeoff to landing, while also gaining valuable experience utilizing thermal lift. Having primarily trained in our Alexander Schleicher ASK 13 [G-CKJL], transitioning to the advanced capabilities of the Grob G103 allowed Niall to adapt his skills to a different airframe and develop a deeper understanding of varying aircraft handling characteristics.

On Sunday, student pilot Brian Logan was at Strubby South Airfield for a productive series of training flights in the Alexander Schleicher ASK 13 [G-CKJL], alongside Chief Flying Instructor Richard "Dick" Skerry.

​The session focused on the precision and technical mastery required for perfecting smooth winch launches, as well as mastering approach circuits and landings. Dedicating time to these fundamental flight procedures is a core part of our training syllabus, ensuring our students build the confidence and safety standards required to progress toward solo flight.

On Saturday, the Lincolnshire Gliding Club was proud to support a special charity flight at Strubby South Airfield in the Grob G103 Twin II Acro [G-DEXA].

​Club chairman Patrick "Pat" Fowler piloted a flight for Diana Wilkinson, a nurse with the Paget’s Association, who successfully raised over £1,000 for the charity. This marks a wonderful milestone for our local operations, as Diana is the first visitor to utilise a glider flight experience at the club to raise funds for a vital health cause.

​We're delighted to see our aircraft and facilities contributing to such a meaningful achievement. If you're ready to experience flight training or wish to learn more about our club community, please get in touch!

​Working alongside instructor Derek Woodforth, Jack focused on the technical mastery of coordinated turns. As a student pilot, refining these fundamental handling skills is a vital part of the progression toward solo flight and ensures the highest standards of airmanship are maintained within the club.

On Saturday, member Jeremy Bodiam completed a successful long-duration solo flight at Strubby South Airfield in the Vickers-Slingsby S.65 Vega [G-EEAD].

​Flights like these highlight the performance capabilities of the aircraft within our fleet and the skill required for extended soaring sessions. Maintaining the focus and airmanship necessary for long-duration flight is a key part of developing as a pilot and is a standard we encourage throughout the Lincolnshire Gliding Club.
