Arena XC: riders needed!

I'm looking for 2 horse/riders to be guinea pigs for an arena eventing session with myself at Parley E.C. near Bournemouth Airport during the last week of August.

You must be comfortable jumping a course of fences at 80cms. This session will be FREE and we will of course be taking into consideration the weather!
Dates and times tbc.

Drop me a DM if you are interested.

Emma ☺️

I'll go first...
It's been longer than I'd like to admit since I got on my horse and didn't feel that knot in my stomach.

If you're nodding along, you're not the only one. Drop a 🐴 below if you know exactly what I mean...
..and if you're comfortable sharing, what's one moment that knot showed up for you? A bad fall, a spooky horse, a long break from riding?

I read every single comment 💛

🐴 A tribute to a true horsemanship legend: Monty Roberts

If you've ever had a lightbulb moment with your horse — that split second where trust clicks into place instead of force — you've felt the ripple effect of Monty Roberts.

He spent his life proving that horses don't need to be broken. They need to be understood. His "Join-Up" method changed how thousands of us think about communication, patience, and partnership with these incredible animals.

For so many of us who've struggled with confidence in the saddle, that shift in mindset is everything. It's not about dominating a 500kg animal through fear — it's about earning trust, one quiet moment at a time.

That's the same philosophy I bring to coaching. Confidence isn't forced. It's built.

Which of his lessons has stuck with you the most? 💬👇

You know the spot.
The bend where the light changes, where your horse's ears go up before you've even seen anything.

Your heart rate climbs before you're even close. Reins shorten, shoulders creep up round your ears. You're riding the fear of the corner more than the corner itself.

Here's the thing — your horse feels that shift in your body before you're even aware of it yourself.

This is where working with your nervous system comes in. Instead of just "thinking" your way calm, it's about noticing what your body is doing in the moment and consciously softening it, right there in the saddle.

Try this at that scary bend:
A long exhale, longer than your in-breath. It tells your nervous system the danger has passed — even before it has.
Your horse feels that shift in you and starts to soften too. Their head becomes lower, you're able to relax your fingers around your reins and youre able to hear the rhythm of their walk again.

You're not just training your riding. You're retraining the conversation between your body and your horse's body.

Let's work on your having a regulated nervous system and actually enjoying your summer hacks, without that sinking feeling🏇

Drop me a DM or comment CORNER if you are ready to turn the corner with your riding.

Tonight I was sat across the kitchen table from my Nanna, catching up with a cup of tea when I heard a ping from my phone. I picked it up and opened my messages, to see this message from one of my lovely clients.

They initially reached out to attend the Flying Changes Mindset workshop series that I ran within Hampshire earlier this year. Since, we've been out on a supported hack, with them riding and me walking out supporting and coaching. We discussed what's within their control, their barriers and what we can do to move forward. We've regularly been in touch with updates.

I then received a video of them hacking without their emotional support horse or person. On their own, in partnership, doing what they really wanted to do when they first contacted me at the start of the year. The moment they have wished for...

This is what it's all about, enjoying your horses whether it's ridden or on the ground. The power of mindset is incredible 🫶

Today I went to Kingston Maurward to volunteer for their BE90/100/Novice classes.
Again, always so much to learn and such a great opportunity to see so many horse and rider combinations at these levels

🐴Stop comparing your chapter 3 to someone else's chapter 20 📖

As equestrians, it's so easy to look around the competition arena or scroll through social media and convince ourselves that everyone else is a better rider.

"They're braver than me."

"They make it look effortless."

"They're progressing so much faster."

"I'm just not good enough."

But what you don't see is the fear they've overcome, the setbacks they've faced, or the years of work behind those moments.

Comparison is one of the biggest confidence killers in horse riding. It takes the joy out of your partnership with your horse and replaces it with self-doubt, frustration and pressure.

The truth is, your journey is unique, your horse is unique and your progress doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

Instead of staying stuck in a cycle of comparison, a mindset coach can make a huge difference and help you:

✨ Quiet the inner critic

✨ Build genuine confidence from within

✨ Stop seeking validation from other riders

✨ Learn to trust yourself and your horse

✨ Reframe negative thoughts into empowering ones

✨ Focus on your own progress instead of someone else's highlight reel.

Confidence isn't something you're born with—it's something you can train, just like any riding skill.

Imagine walking into the yard feeling calm, focused, and proud of where you are, rather than worrying about whether you're "good enough."

Because you are.

Your horse doesn't need a perfect rider, your horse needs you.

🌸 Be kinder to yourself

🎇Celebrate the small wins

🫶Trust the process

If this post resonates with you, know that you're not the only rider who feels this way♥️

Send me a message📩with the word 'RIDE' and let's have a no-obligation chat about how mindset coaching could help you become a calmer, more confident rider.

Sarah sat in her car outside the yard, hands gripping the steering wheel. Xander her horse was waiting for her, but all she could think about was everything that could go wrong.

"What if he spooks?" "What if I get it wrong again?" "What if everyone sees I'm struggling?" The anxiety felt heavy. The overwhelm felt exhausting.

Part of her wanted to turn the car around and go home.

But instead, she took a deep breath and walked to the stable. That day wasn't perfect, her confidence wobbled. She overthought things and questioned herself more than once.

But she got on, she rode and she proved something important to herself.
Resilience isn't the rider who never feels anxious, it's the rider who shows up despite the anxiety.
It's the rider who keeps going when their inner critic is loud.
It's the rider who chooses courage over comfort, one small step at a time.

If you've ever sat in your car before riding, feeling overwhelmed, nervous, or wondering if you're capable enough, this is your reminder:
You don't need to feel confident to be resilient. Sometimes resilience is simply showing up and giving yourself permission to try. 💙🐴
