Tuesday Boxing for beginners is on through half term

Nearly a year since we last had boxers in a competitive bout. We’ve been rebuilding a new squad and two of the boys got wins on Saturday in Worthing.

Joe Youngs boxed well throughout his contest and gave his opponent two standing counts in the second round. After another quick count in the third round, the bout was waved off giving Youngs a stoppage win on his debut.

The last bout of the day fell to Lawson Day, who boxed with trademark aggression in the first round. After injuring his right shoulder in the second, Day threw consistently with his southpaw left and showed a will to win which cannot be taught. The Lawrence boxer took the win on a unanimous decision.

Both boys will be back in the gym on Monday and training towards their second bout.
