A fantastic turn out, for a truly fantastic man💙

A huge thank you to all who came and celebrated Arty’s life yesterday. We as a family loved seeing faces old and new, especially hearing all of the stories and memories you had of our beloved husband, dad and grandad.

We all did him proud yesterday, and he can now rest peacefully at Exbury with his brother Chris.

Good evening all, the family of Art Savage would like to thank everyone for their support during the recent weeks. We have been totally overwhelmed with the lovely stories, tributes, cards and kind words we have received regarding our Arty.

The funeral service will take place at 2pm on Wednesday 13th July 2022 at Beaulieu Abbey, followed by a private family burial at St Katherine’s church, Exbury.

Flowers or donations are welcome, and donations if so desired may be sent to Prostate Cancer UK.

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the incredible Art Savage, skipper of Private Venture.

After a long illness, he passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday 3rd June 2022.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who over the years have given their time and dedication maintaining Private Venture on its annual refurb, especially this year. As well as the fantastic fishermen, friends and customers Art had the pleasure of encountering during the years of running Private Venture.

His biggest passion in life was fishing and his boat. He knew the Solent like the back of his hand, and had a knowledge that will be hard to replace.

Good run on the Bass last month over the big tides. Nothing massive but all worthy of a photograph.

It has been a tough few weeks for me but have managed to prospect a few new marks and some I haven’t finished for over twenty years and it turned up some really good fish.

Shame the weather has turned against us as the fishing has been exceptionally good over this series of neap tides. We are still seeing Spurdog over these marks which is unusual as they normally move on around the end of April
but they are very good sport

The past week of fine weather coincided with neap tides which allowed us to fish in all areas where big tides would restrict us, with some areas turning up some quality fish

Pleased to see the wind getting out of the East as the fishing was suffering, and with the sea temperature still hanging between 10 and 11 degrees we were all struggling to make it work However yesterday it registered 12.2 degrees so it’s going in the right direction, and with it now blowing from the West the fishing has improved slightly. These are a few fish our struggles achieved. Art Savage

This is some of the catch from past two weeks, sea water temperature is still low at 8 to 10 degrees but fishing is reasonable. Good to see the first mackerel which came on dead bait. Art Savage Private Venture
