What a fantastic time Sol and Zara had representing GB out at the World Beach Sprint Finals in Turkey 🇹🇷
This is the first year the Beach Sprint team have worn the traditional worlds “hoops” so a great honour to have 2 of our athletes having earned them.
So much learnt, not quite the results they hoped for but an amazing experience.
Bring on next season!

EUROPEAN U19 CHAMPION! Huge congratulations to Sol who won gold in the U19 male single at the European beach sprint championships in Turkey a few weeks ago. What an incredible achievement Sol, we are all so proud of you!

Are you, or someone you know, home schooled or not able to access mainstream education?

Here at LARC, we have a large and vibrant junior section, including several children being schooled outside of mainstream education and a growing number of neurodiverse children. For these children in particular, the club provides an essential opportunity for them to make friends and participate in sport. The skills our young rowers learn go way beyond the technical demands of rowing and fitness - they learn how to work together in teams and how to lead and mentor and develop less experienced rowers.

One junior, in particular, is keen to share his story and encourage others to try a new sport and be part of our amazing rowing community.

Fin’s story:

Hi, I’m Fin, I am a Junior Rower (Aged 15). We are an inclusive club supporting a range of people with different backgrounds. This includes a high number of our members like me, being neurodiverse.

I’ve been a member of LARC for over 3 years and it has helped me massively with my personal growth. Due to being neurodiverse, education was a difficult journey for me and it gave me a lot of daily challenges. Terry, one of our coaches from LARC, came to my local secondary school to teach us rowing at an after-school club. Since then, I have found a passion for rowing and I have become a full-time member of the club.

Before rowing, I never left the house and I struggled with extreme anxiety. Now, I am leaving the house 5-6 times a week, I am socialising with friends, have become more confident, am keeping healthy and found my voice. All of this has helped me get back into full time education.

With the support of a qualified coach, I am looking forward to welcoming and supporting more children to give rowing a go.

I hope you’ll find rowing as rewarding as I have.
