So my daughter's home work was a (rather vague) request that she turn up to school with a primitive bow and arrows. I'd got a few dried hazel rods at home, so we made a bundle bow and a couple of arrows. We didn't have time for an elaborate quiver (I only had 20 minutes before leaving for work) so a postal tube had to do! She could just about bring it to full draw, and won the distance competition. :-)

I had a wonderfully restorative afternoon in the woods. I was hoping to break 300 around the first 20 targets (managed 298 - denied! :-)) but improved a little with 316 round the other 20, despite muzzing up the fan shot (60 points gone begging!). Haven't shot for ages, had the woods to myself and a super time.

Good luck to all those shooting at the 3d's this weekend! I've been working more on boats than bows recently!

Well that works alright! Shot the new ELB round the woods earlier, scored 666! I'd like to say it's a bit of a beast, but it's as smooth and quiet as a mouse! Only 10 under my PB, so chuffed with that. Chronographed at 164fps average, at 10gpp.

Finished up my English longbow earlier. 49.5 # @ 28". I had aimed at 45 #, but it's like a toothpick, hence the chunky ...

Finished up my English longbow earlier. 49.5 # @ 28". I had aimed at 45 #, but it's like a toothpick, hence the chunky grip. Happy with the tiller (full draw in the photo). The horn nocks polished up quite well. Looking forward to shooting it at the weekend. It's got a smooth draw, only adding two pounds per inch in the last few inches of draw.
