🌊 Would you be interested in joining our Social & Peer Paddles community? 🛶🏄

We’re thinking of starting regular, relaxed meetups for people who want to build confidence, enjoy the water safely and paddle as part of a friendly group.

Whether you have your own paddleboard or kayak or would like to hire one from us, everyone would be welcome!

The idea is to:
✨ Get out on the water together
🤝 Meet like-minded people and build confidence
💡 Share knowledge, tips and experience
🦺 Learn more about staying safe on the water
🎤 Occasionally invite external guests to give talks or share their expertise

There’s no pressure and no need to be an expert — it’s all about creating a supportive community and enjoying time on the water together.

Sorry to those of you that booked in advance to see the Red Arrows. Hopefully you’ll still come down 🤞

‼️BREAKING NEWS‼️

We are absolutely devastated to announce that the Red Arrows display on Sunday 16 August has been cancelled.

The RAF has confirmed the team remains in North America due to poor weather conditions and will be unable to fulfil its commitment to Lyme Regis and several other displays in the coming week.

All of us at Lyme Regis Town Council and RNLI Lyme Regis are extremely disappointed but we understand the safety of our military personnel is paramount and they must get home when it is safe to do so.

We are sorry to all of you, our residents, visitors and local businesses - we know how much everyone was looking forward to it.

The rest of the Lifeboat Week programme will go ahead as planned so please support all the great events that will be taking place, in this, their 200th anniversary year.

Please support our wonderful lifeguards 🤞

On Saturday the 8 of August, Weymouth and West Dorset RNLI Lifeguards will be taking on a unique charity challenge, raising vital funds for the RNLI.

To celebrate 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards, a team of 6 local lifeguards will be swimming an incredible 25km from Chesil Beach to Lyme Regis in time to start work at 10am. They will start swimming in the early hours of the morning, swimming through the night to make it to work on time.

This challenge is designed to highlight the dedication and resilience of RNLI lifeguards while raising vital funds that will help the charity continue protecting those who enjoy our beaches and coastline.

The Rule: One hire = one person.

The Message: Please remember that kayaks and paddleboards hired for a single adult or teenager cannot be shared, swapped or passed to others on the shore or in the water during your rental time.

The Reason: This rule keeps you safe, keeps our insurance valid and ensures the equipment stays within weight and capacity limits.

"Can my friend take a turn?"

"To keep everyone safe and insured our rentals are strictly for the person named on the booking. No swapping is allowed on the water or shore during the hire period."

"Why is this a rule?"

"It helps us track who is on the water, ensures safety gear fits the correct user and complies with our insurance policy."

Safety First: Our hire agreements cover one specific person for personal safety on the water. Swapping users mid-session creates confusion and risks.

Liability & Insurance: Our safety briefing and liability cover only the registered user on the water. Unregistered swaps void our insurance coverage.

Capacity Rules: Each board or kayak is rented based on specific weight limits and single-user allocation.

Fair Use: If others in your group want to paddle, they must complete a separate booking and safety check.

A spectacular fireworks display over the Cobb this evening started Lyme Regis Carnival Week with a bang!
