Lyme Regis Sailing Club Ltd

Lyme Regis Sailing Club Ltd Lyme Regis Sailing Club is situated at the heart of the world famous Cobb harbour. The Club is open to all who desire to sail or have an interest sailing.

Lyme Regis Sailing Club was formed in 1921 by a small group of sailing enthusiasts with the object of encouraging amateur sailing. It is situated next to the harbour at the foot of Cobb Hill. The well equipped clubhouse has a bar, galley, male and female changing facilities with showers, and a sun deck which overlooks the harbour and sea. The small harbour, offering shelter for both yachts and fis

hing boats. The harbour itself dries out at low water, but it's shallow and shelving, offering hard standing that is ideal for launching and recovering boats. The Club is open to all who desire to sail or who have an interest in the sport. Currently it does not have a waiting list, as do some clubs, and presently has over 400 members. There are various categories of membership with price concessions for juniors and family/ group discounts; temporary membership is available for visitors.

Well done to Lyme competitors Cameron and Simon who were 3rd overall at the Albacore Championships at Thorpe Bay. Allan and Chrissie were 6th overall.
Cameron and Simon suffered a breakage in the last race which dropped them down from second overall.

A great write up from Cameron covering the Inaugural Mayor’s Shield!

Light winds and a slightly moody sky greeted sailors for the inaugural Mayor's Shield, a new concept created as part of the sporting Lyme initiative. [Photo (c) Rob @ lovelymeregis] https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/298991/?source=facebook

What a great photo.

A beautiful sight off the Cobb on Sunday as 19 dinghies and 6 cruisers took part in the Mayor’s Race. ⛵️

The race was sailed in very light conditions, with Graham Cook taking the win.

Important warning to competitors ! On your way out to the start on no account look at the message on the end of the North Wall. One Albacore sailor did glance at it yesterday and his racing was jinxed for the day.

LRSC Regatta & Albacore Southern Area Championships - 1st and 2nd August at Lyme Regis

The Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions are now on the LRSC website (Under the 'Regatta & Albacore Southerns' tab).

The entry process is described in the NOR but in summary:-

1) You enter into HAL using the link in NOR #3.4 & #3.5

2) You separately transfer some £ to the Club Bank details in the NOR

3) You need to do this before midnight on Friday 24th July 2026 as we have to let the Harbour Master know a week in advance how many of his slipway car parking spaces we are going to use for berthing boats.

4) If anyone misses this deadline let me know and I will try to find a berth in amongst our sailing club dinghy park.

5) Anyone arriving on Friday pm/eve, please message me and I will try to meet you at the bottom of Cobb Hill and direct you into our Club dinghy park overnight as the berthing spaces on the slipway will only be for Saturday & Sunday.

6) The bar will be open on Friday evening and there will be a Club BBQ on the Saturday evening at £10 per head

7) Car Parking - cheapest is on the slipway at £15 per day but space is very limited so you will need to get there early (probably well before 9am). Parking on Monmouth Beach Car Park is £2 per hour (capped at £24/day). Holmbush car park (which is at the top of the hill) is £15.80 per day. I would suggest that to get a space in any of the carparks you will need to be there by 9.30am. There is a Park & Ride scheme and some on the road parking by Woodroffe School.
