Following the Governmentโs announcement regarding the new PE and School Sport funding model, many schools will understandably be asking questions about what happens next.
The honest answer is that there is still a lot we donโt know yet.
Schools are trying to plan budgets, staffing and provision for the next academic year without having the full picture, and that uncertainty is challenging for everyone involved.
However, after 20 years supporting schools across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, we know that periods of change can also create opportunities to do things better.
At Prostars, we believe this new approach has the potential to strengthen local partnerships, improve collaboration and create more joined-up support for children and young people.
However, during any transition, consistency and continuity matter.
For pupils, this means maintaining trusted relationships, familiar routines and positive experiences that support their confidence, wellbeing and development.
For school staff, it means having reliable provision, clear communication and trusted partners who understand the pressures schools are facing.
That is why we have already begun discussions with schools around how we can support them through this transitional period and help maintain high-quality opportunities for pupils while further details become clear.
School sport has never just been about just delivering PE lessons.
It supports:
- Confidence
- Wellbeing
- Attendance
- Inclusion
- Values
- Social skills
- Key soft skills
- Physical literacy
It is about providing opportunities, experiences and memories that children carry with them long after they leave primary school.
Through:
- Prostars
- Severn Mentoring,
- Forest Sports Education & Gloucester Sports Education
We are already supporting young people across a wide range of needs and pathways:
- Curriculum PE
- Extra-Curricular Activities
- Tournaments & Events
- Holiday Clubs
- District Football
- Active Intervention Programme
- Mentoring for Alternative Provision
- Level 2 - 6 Sports Qualifications,
- Work experience & career pathways
Our experienced team understands both individual school needs and the wider local challenges across our communities.
Whatever the future structure looks like, we believe local knowledge, trusted relationships and proven delivery will be critical to its success.
Over the coming months, we will continue to work closely with schools, listen carefully to their priorities and adapt our support where needed.
If your school would like to talk through the changes, explore flexible options for the Autumn Term, or discuss how we can support your pupils and staff during this period and beyond, please do reach out to us.
The structure & funding may change but our commitment to schools and young people in this area remains.
