⚽️🔥 UP THE LYDNEY U18s! 🔥⚽

5TH PLACE — their highest league finish in the CYFL Floodlite League in a good few seasons 👏 (from my findings 🙈)

*JUST TO CLARIFY THIS WAS BASED ON CHELTENHAM YOUTH FLOODLIT LEAGUE POSITIONS BUT HAVE BEEN GIVEN MIDLAND FLOODLIT LEAGUE DATA 🫡*

Progress? Oh yeah, we’ve got receipts 👇

16/17 - 7th
17/18 - 6th (Midlands Floodlit League)
18/19 -
19/20 -
21/22 – 9th
22/23 – 8th
23/24 – 7th
24/25 – 8th
25/26 – 5th 🚀👏

That’s not luck… that’s hard work, graft, and growth. Be PROUD of what you've all achieved 👊👏👊👏👊👏

And for some of these lads… this is the end of their youth football journey. 💔

From muddy boots to matchdays, wins, losses, laughs and everything in between you’ve worn the badge with pride and given everything. That doesn’t get forgotten.

Go smash whatever comes next whether it’s senior football or a new path entirely. The club’s proud of every single one of you. 🖤🤍⚽️⚽️

Massive thank you to Manager Dave Jenkins 👏
Taking on the team with a handful of players and turning it into a proper squad full of quality, character and togetherness that takes serious commitment. Week in, week out, the time, effort and belief you've put into these lads has been massive, not just developing footballers but building a team that sticks together and fights for each other (literally 🙈🤣) on and off the pitch.

Thank you to assistant Liam Saunders for helping and bringing some of your U16s into the mix who have been brilliant and more than stepped up when called upon. 💪👏

This is what it’s all about building, developing, and pushing forward as a team.

Once Lydney…Always Lydney. 🖤🤍⚽️

⚽️⚽️ FULL TIME ⚽️⚽️

After all the hype before the game was even confirmed 😂 it definitely lived up to it!

A proper battle between two local sides on a sunny Wednesday evening. Milkwall took the lead in the first half, putting Lydney on the back foot early on.

Lydney came out stronger in the second half and started to settle into their rhythm. A moment of pressure in front of goal saw Milkwall win it back, but a mis-hit clearance turned into an absolute screamer…and saw Milkwall score their second unfortunately into their own net to bring Lydney level.

From there, both sides pushed and it could’ve gone either way. Lydney began to play some really good football, and the breakthrough came when Kai picked up the ball and slipped a quality pass through to Luke Williams, who kept his composure and slotted it through the keeper’s legs to make it 2-1.

Bodies were being put on the line quite literally Teague from Milkwall (the gobby one) took an absolute belter to the face that sent him straight to the floor…Yeeeaaahhhh baby! 😂What a way to lead by example and certainly made himself our opposition man of the match 👏

Lydney saw the game out well, keeping Milkwall at arm’s length, but both teams kept battling right to the final whistle and created chances throughout.

A great game, and great effort from both sides 👏⚽️

Great news 👏👏👏

Lydney Town Ladies will have a 2nd team for the 26/27 season 🙌

Our First Team will continue under the fantastic management of Dave Jenkins, alongside his assistant Craig Watts 💪

And our Development Team will be managed by Sam Fleet 👏

A massive step forward for the pathway within the club, creating more opportunities, more game time, and continued growth for all our players.

⚽️🔥

Big news for the LADIES, CLUB & YOUTH
🖤🤍⚽️

We’re proud to announce the formation of Lydney Town Ladies Development 🙌

The squad will be made up of our current Lydney Town Youth U18 Lionesses, who have just been crowned league winners in the u18s Bristol League Div B 🏆🔥 a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work and talent.

The team have applied to join the Gloucestershire County Women’s League Div 4 and will act as a development squad, creating a clear pathway into our Ladies 1st team while also creating a stronger pathway with our youth section.

Our aim is to give players from the development squad opportunities to step up into the first team, gaining valuable minutes and experience just like our men’s first team and reserves do following the club’s pathway 💪

This is a huge step forward for the club, giving players the chance to grow, develop, and push on to the next level.

The development coaching team Sam Fleet will be working closely alongside Ladies 1st Team Manager Dave Jenkins and Assistant Coach Craig Watts, ensuring the same standards, values, and support run right through both squads.

Exciting times ahead for Lydney Town Ladies… the future is looking strong 💪💪

Give us a follow and keep an eye out for the girls 👀😁

And that's a wrap!

Whitecroft signed off their final game in the North Glos Premier Division with a spirited performance against and well-drilled and much younger Lydney Town AFC side.

Whitecroft weathered the storm for much of the game but it took a while to get going. Robbie Kiwanuka, suffering from some jetlag, was unable to stop Lydney inside the area and the tackle resulted in a penalty, which was duly saved by debutant goalkeeper, Felix Rose.

Rose, a regular fixture up front, had to replace Charlie Bethell in goal as the latter was unable to complete the full game and did the position justice by performing some outstanding saves.

There were some good spells of passing football from both sides but Whitecroft rarely threatened the Lydney goalkeeper as the heat and fitness started to take their toll.

The second half was met with players being replaced left, right and centre, as a heavy season and a depleted squad meant it was difficult to keep some consistency.

Callum McCarthy and Captain Liam Davies coping with the fast Lydney strikers all game and Grant Kear and Adam Collier grafting in the midfield. It got to a point where the substitutes were getting injured and the goals began to flood in.

It was a valiant effort and the Greeks can be proud with how they stuck at it for 90 minutes and throughout a tough season. With relegation already confirmed, they have time to regroup for next season in Division One.

Manager's Comments:

"This was always going to be a tough game with such a small squad to choose from and many players playing out of position. Lydney were well-drilled and very direct with quick players so we did well to hold them off in the first half.

I must thank them for allowing us to play on the main pitch as the players were finally able to experience a game on a flat field for a change! I can't fault their efforts all season as they've stuck at it and we've managed to play every game without any points deductions, even playing a game with 10 men. It does take it's toll on your mental health taking a beating every week but we are made of tough stuff.

We will regroup for next season in an attempt to maintain some consistency with our team. I want to thank everyone that has supported us throughout this season and for the encouragement our opponents have shown the club as well."

Whitecroft FC awards night will be on 9th May. More details soon.
