Everyone at Yorkley Star would like to share their thanks for making yesterday so amazing, enjoyable & successful.

Firstly to the spectators, we hope you enjoyed yesterday as much as we did, your continued support is greatly appreciated, ensuring that cricket is played in the village of Yorkley bonding the community.

The generosity and unwavering passion of the FoD Masonic lodges in supporting local clubs and communities are truly invaluable and deeply cherished.

All who donated generously to our raffle prizes & auction. From the donations alone, our raffle raised over £800 and Auction seeing over £630.

Forest’ Brass Band for returning to the Cut & Fry to provide some beautifully tuneful entertainment in the sun.

Finally with too many names, we give thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to make yesterdays event the success it was, from the dedicated groundskeepers who made sure everything looked perfect, to the fantastic bar staff and barbecue crew who kept everyone fed and refreshed, and the amazing team who handled everything behind the scenes on the build up to yesterday, your hard work didn't go unnoticed. And a special shout-out to those who tirelessly managed the raffle sales, auctioneer and all the other countless tasks that contributed to such a wonderful day. Your collective effort and enthusiasm truly made the event memorable for everyone involved!

On Friday the sad news broke that a young man, Harry Lee had sadly passed away. A kind hearted man, much loved member of Yorkley community, father of 2, son, brother, with a radiant smile. Our thoughts are with Harry’s family & friends at this very difficult time.

Yesterday seen us host our 4th fundraiser vs FoD Masonic lodge’
A minutes silence was impeccably observed to reflect on Harry’s life.

With the sun shining, the audience arriving in fabulous numbers, the beers started to pour. Team photos taken and the toss decided, it was time for FoD Masonic’ to open the batting. A high spirited performance that seen some great shot selection, not too many wickets fallen & a reasonable 116 target set using the full 20 overs.
A quick burger & pint later it was Yorkley turn with the bat. Young Cody sending the ball soaring to the boundary his retirement of 30 soon came. Another team talk from captain Tristan Day, a few wickets & a collection of drops and miss-fields later, in 15 overs the target was reached.

🏆 Lewis Edwards steers the ship and Yorkley retained their trophy leaving Tristan Day to lick his wounds as he plans his revenge for next years showdown🏆

5 for 25 from Luke Hatherall, a sterling effort from a man that dug right into the deep to find JUST enough effort to play cricket in the sun😂😂
