As we are currently running a combined weight competition on the Open matches on Marin lake I thought I had better do a quick update,

We are now 10 matches in and we have a clear leader at the moment in Colin Cook who has fished 10 matches and has weighed in 762lb 6oz is averaging 76lb per match at the moment,

In second is Dave Cheetham with 528lb 14oz and after 9 matches is averaging 58lb per match

Third Phil Henry 404lb 5oz with 9 matches and an average of 44lb and in 4th and not far behind is Colin Craven with 403lb 5oz and a 57lb per match average with only fishing 7 matches at the moment,

Still a long way to go until the end of October and Colin must be due some holidays soon :)

The spreadsheet is slightly different due to it not including ounces and is more to work out the averages per match (The Hot fishin is the main one to focus on)

Well done all and keep those weights coming in

I fished the Thursday club match on Mistral today and with it being a Rover I was looking for a good ball at the draw,

Into the bag and out comes white ball 33 so last pick so not bad considering,

Decided on peg 42 as some carp have been being caught in this area during the week and the Thursday Club only get pegs 20-48

As I haven't made time to make any new rigs I spent 30 minutes after all in to get some done as wanted to be organised for once before commencing fishing

Set up a skimmer line at 9.5mtrs and a couple edge rigs and had the method feeder rod ready,

Waited 30 minutes for a skimmer and was having to swap and change baits to get bites and keep nabbing the odd fish,

Was constantly pinging 6mm pellets out to where I was planning on fishing the method feeder whilst still getting a trickle of skimmers,

Noticed Ste Winstanley getting the odd carp so switched to the method feeder around 2.30pm and no sooner had I gone in the tip wrapped round and a small carp graced the net,

Kept pinging over the top and was getting liners and the odd fish with the majority falling to 8mm hard pellet

Had a look down the edges but nothing other than small rudd so stuck it out on the method feeder and picked up a few more carp,

At the all out I weighed in 20 odd pound of skimmers, rudd and the carp pushed me to 67lb 8oz which was enough for 2nd on the day,

Ste Winstanley on Peg 26 fished the bomb and 8mm pellet for the win with 68lb 7oz

3rd was Mick Diamond on Peg 22
with 63lb of mainly carp down the edge on the pole,

1st) Ste Winstanley 68lb 7oz Peg 26
2nd) Dave Kirkman 67lb 8oz Peg 42
3rd) Mick Diamond 63lb Peg 22
4th) Bob Winstanley 57lb 11oz Peg 20

A close match today and well done Ste and framers

Best bait for skimmers today worm over groundbait and method was 2mm skrettings and 8mm hard pellet

Morning,

Geoff is here today assisting around the fishery and will be on hand if you need any pellets, etc,

Lorraine is also onsite as the cafe is open so if you are fishing today and feeling peckish pop in for a bite to eat

The water temperatures are continuing to rise and are now as below:

Mescar 20.2oc
Mistral 20.8oc
Marin 19.5oc

The aerators have been on all night so the oxygen levels are food,

We have the weekly Thursday club match on Mistral pegs 20 - 48 and pegs 2-18 and 50-57 are available for our members to fish

Have a good day all

A few shots of the lakes this evening before heading home after another busy day

The water temperatures have been creeping up over the following couple of days and were as below this morning:

Mescar 19.4oc
Mistral 19.6oc
Marin 18.7oc

Mescar fished slow this morning but came alive as the day went on and from 2.30pm the carp had gone on the feed

Mistral the carp were not playing ball and only a few were caught compared to previous days but the skimmers and big roach were showing in decent numbers

Marin a lot of small carp caught today in the match with some around the 1lb mark showing in the nets whilst we were weighing in

Thursday we have the weekly Club match on Mistral lake Pegs 20-48 for the match and pegs 2-18 and 50 - 57 for the members to fish,

The cafe will be open again in the morning so pop in and see Lorraine and if you fancy some fried bread with your breakfasts please ask and she will sort for you :)

Looking like another nice day on Thursday so hopefully a few of you will make the most of it and please remember to protect yourself from the sun :)

Our next Open match will be this Sunday 21st June on Mistral lake.
It will be a 10:00am draw and fish 11.00am - 17:00pm

As we have a number of regular anglers who have fished the lake all through the year they will automatically go on the booked on list then if they are not available this will be backfilled each week,

Please note the match will be 6hrs during the warmer months
With it being a Rover draw can you please be early to pay match fees (£25) and to draw for the rover pick which takes place just outside the cabin,

We have a 60lb net limit and silvers / barbel to be kept in a seperate net to the carp

*Please note that the centre of the lake in front of you is the boundary of the peg you are fishing from so no casting to the opposite bank*

We had a full house of 18 on the weekly Open match on Marin today and with the bright sunny conditions it proved a tough match for some,

On Peg 25 Colin Cook who was fishing the method feeder and wafters was getting fish close to the island in waves with a frantic 5 minutes then they would disappear but managed to find 104lb 4oz of carp albeit the smaller stamp today but this was enough to seal the win,

Colin Craven on Peg 32 found 7 carp on the method feeder and pellet but had the majority of his fish on the pole down the edges and just in front on pellet and weighed in 91lb 1oz for 2nd,

Third place went to Ian Cowie today from Peg 4 who fished the method and wafters over to the island and pole down the edges to land 67lb 10oz

1st) Colin Cook (Parkfield Angling) - 104lb 4oz - Peg 25
2nd) Colin Craven (Mescar) - 91lb 1oz - Peg 32
3rd) Ian Cowie - 67lb 10oz - Peg 4
4th) Phil Henry (Parkfield Angling) - 56lb 15oz - Peg 7

Section 1) Phil Henry (Parkfield Angling) - 56lb 15oz - Peg 7
Section 2) Dave Cheetham (BAS) - 51lb 15oz - Peg 29

A total of 631lb 3oz was weighed in today with 7 anglers tipping back for DNW

Thanks as always to all those who fished today and Colin Cook for assisting with the weighing in

Hopefully see a few of you again next Wednesday

Only a quick one as i will do an update in the morning

Nice hot day today and managed to get the rest of Marin mowed and plenty fish moving around,

Members reported mixed results with fishing a bit slower this morning but fish being caught,

Tomorrow we have the weekly Open match on Marin Lake so that's not available for the members to fish but Mescar and Mistral both are,

The cafe will also be open tomorrow so pop in and say hello to Lorraine :)

Morning,

We have a few members at the fishery today and although Dan is currently on his own on Marin in search of an exlusive tench everybody else has gone on Mistral and Mescar lakes,

The air pressure has dropped since yesterday and the water temperatures have gone up overnight to the below:

Mescar 18.3oc
Mistral 18.6oc
Marin 17.7oc

We ran the aerators again last night on all 3 lakes so the oxygen levels are all very good,

I am off mowing again now so hopefully the fish will play ball today and keep our members entertained,

Tomorrow we have the weekly Open Match on Marin and this match is full and Lorraine will be back in the cafe if anybody :)

Have a great Tuesday all

It was good to see a few of our members venture down to Mistral for a change and all reported back they had caught (Comments on the photos of the members I caught up with)

Unfortunately Peter hit into a carp on Peg 10 which broke his number 3 section so he lost his top kit so if anybody hooks into or finds Middy top kit can you give me a shout please so I can get it back to him,

Nearly got all of Marin mowed just have to finish off at the back between Pegs 22 - 30 so will do this in the morning,

Hope all those who fished today had a good day and hopefully see a few of the members tomorrow.

I had a short session on Marin and have put a seperate post up
