Morning,

It is quite mild today and not much of a breeze on any of the lakes first thing,

We have a few members who have arrived early and have headed onto Mescar and Marin hoping for a few fish,

Mescar is fishing better later in the day at the moment but fish are still showing early doors and if you fish maggot then some big chunky perch have been showing and nice roach / hybrids,

Marin is fishing better on the pole lines at the moment with the carp and skimmers being caught in waves, you will get 2 or 3 then they back off so it's a case of just working the peg and locating them when they back off,

We have the weekly Open match on Mistral today so that's not available,

The cafe is open today and Lorraine will be here until 13:30pm with last orders for food at 13:00pm,

Hope you all have a great Sunday

We had a few members on today and although Mescar fished slow in the morning it picked up again later in the afternoon for those who stayed on (Sounds familiar to yesterday)

David had a good day on Peg 4 catching a good number of carp later in the day on the method feeder and pellet, John came on late and went on Peg 61 and was catching steady on the pole,

The early birds and birthday boy Mick who was 68 today came with his brother and friends who had travelled from Scotland and Cornwall to join him for a day's fishing and had a few fish between them but no great numbers before heading out to celebrate,

Kevin on Peg 53 had 16 carp from his favourite peg fishing down the edges on pellet and had a good day,

Mistral saw those fishing all get into a few carp and some nice skimmers as well as the smaller ones and a barbel for Jimmy,

The Dockers match on Marin was won by venue regular Colin Ambrose from Peg 3 with the majority of his fish falling to paste on the pole and he weighed in 57lb 6oz,

Second was Ian Harris on Peg 37 who weighed in 54lb of carp with the majority being caught on the top kit under the feet, 3rd was Alan Millar on Peg 28 who fished the bomb / method feeder down
the middle and switched between pellet and wafters for 50lb 4oz,

A bit tougher than normal and tight match at the top so well done lads and thanks for supporting the cafe this morning,

I have been around the new lake collecting hardcore so I can try and get the job we started on Mescar around the banking boxed off so slowly getting there before our next steps

After the Dockers match got round Marin on the mower,

Tomorrow we have the weekly Open match on Mistral so that's not available for our members to fish but Mescar and Marin both are,

The cafe will be open on Sunday so if you are fishing and fancy a bite to eat then pop in and see Lorraine,

Lorraine has been deseeding some more Iris pods today and we are looking at spreading these around the new lake, We will rake up around the banking then sprinkle the seeds before bedding them in for over winter,

Hopefully see a few of you tomorrow

Only a quick one this morning as I have a bit to do first thing with the Club match being on Marin today,

All lakes looking good in the drizzle this morning and water oxygen levels are really good with the cooler weather and nice breeze blowing over the lakes,

Plenty water still running into Mistral so won't be long before that's at full capacity and overflowing into the ditch,

We have a few members already on Mescar this morning and Lorraine is here getting everything prepped if anybody does fancy a bit to eat,

Water temperatures are currently as per below with Mistral being slightly warmer than the other 2 lakes,

Mescar 16.3oc
Mistral 16.6oc
Marin 15.8oc

I may need to go into the water again around the banking we are repairing today but I will only be using the drill and hopefully backfilling with some more hardcore,

Hope you all have a great Saturday regardless of the weather

We had a few members fishing today and mixed results with Mescar fishing slow this morning but then picking up late afternoon,

Jill and Steve came on late and fished Pegs 61 & 62 and finished the day with 14 carp a piece fishing the method feeder just a short throw out,

Brian had a good day on peg 10 with the fish coming on late, Jeff was on Peg 9 but struggled in the morning as did Phill but they did have a few fish,

The rest of those fishing Mescar especially those who were on late did well,

Marin fished well for the Andy and Jerry with plenty carp falling to pole and pellet on Pegs 3 & 4,

Mistral had quite a few members fishing and Mike Brockbank was having a good day on Peg 48 catching some nice carp and Paul H was on Peg 46 and had a late run of fish with 8 carp being landed,

Dave on Peg 2 fished the float rod in the morning then swapped over to the tip rod and had a barbel and a late carp to finish a good day with plenty silvers as well,

Tomorrow we have the Dockers fishing on Marin on a Club match so that lake is not available to fish,

Neil came over from the farm to assist me with the banking repairs and we have now put extra supports in the banking and fixed these to the scaffold poles in the water. We have also started to layer the bottom with hardcore and are awaiting more stone to finish it off,

A bit of progress but hard graft moving all the hardcore :)

Had a surprise visitor as I was leaving for the day and Joe who flies hawks had come over to see me and will be training his young Goshawk on the field and this will also act as a deterent for when the cormorants start to mooch around the skies of Mescar,

Always nice to get up close to nature but as you can see from my face I was a bit wary having the hawk passed to me :)

Anyway time for bed now

Morning,

We had another good sun rise this morning and I always love a good photo oppurtunity so the Muscovy was letting me know it was getting ready for the weekend,

This weekend we have a Club match on Marin on Saturday as The Dockers will be here once again so that lake will not be available to fish for our members, (Early heads up)

Today we have closed Peg 1 on Mescar as we will be continuing the work on the banking at some point so expect some noise disturbance around this part of the lake as we will be hammering some more posts and general work,

Yesterday Geoff was busy cutting around the edges at the far end of Mescar around the 40's pegs (Thanks Geoff!)

Lorraine is here this morning if anybody is fishing and fancies a bite to eat from the cafe up until 13.30pm,

Hope you all have a good Friday

The Thursday Club match on Mistral today with 11 fishing was a close affair for the top 3 and one more carp would have flip flopped the end result,

Dave K on Peg 48 decided to try something different and started the match on a open ended feeder stuffed with dead reds and then plugged with micros and groundbait and a bunch of maggots on the hook,

This combo brought a couple early carp and some nice skimmers before the bites dried up,

As Mick Diamond was catching on the method on Peg 46 a quick switch to the method and a 10mm pink wafter found the fish again and another 6 carp and a few skimmers went into the keepnet,

At the all out I weighed in 83lb 5oz (13lb silvers the rest carp) for the win,

Mick fished the method and 6mm pellet and was a close second with 79lb 12oz on Peg 46,

On the darkside Simon P on Peg 20 got the carp going late on and also fished the method feeder and 6mm pellet/wafters to weigh in 75lb 1oz for third,

1st) Dave Kirkman - 83lb 5oz -Peg 48
2nd) Mick Diamond - 79lb 12oz - Peg 46
3rd) Simon P - 75lb 1oz - Peg 20

Section 1) Ste Winstanley - 50lb 12oz - Peg 28
Section 2) Mick P - 34lb 4oz - Peg 38

Thanks to Ste for assisting with the weighing in

Morning,

I woke up earlier than normal this morning so got here early and cracked on with finishing the mowing around Mescar lake before I did my morning checks,

It was definately hoodie weather as the weather station was showing 8oc and it was a bit nippy on the fingers but should warm up a bit before the forecasted rain later today,

All oxygen levels really good this morning and the water temperatures are currently:

Mescar 16.3oc
Mistral 16.2oc
Marin 15.5oc

The cafe is open today if anybody does fancy a bite to eat or a warm drink and we will be doing some work around the edges on Mescar as we continue our cutting back around the lakes,

We have the weekly Thursday Club match on Mistral today and the board is up with the pegs available for our members to fish,

I have also pinned the list for the anglers fishing the Mistral Open on Sunday so if you are booked on and cannot make it can you please let me know,

Have a great Thursday !

Been another busy day today and whilst the members were all enjoying catching a few fish on Mescar and Mistral I had a little help from Neil to assist with sorting the collapsed banking on Mescar,

Fishing wise everybody on Mescar was catching although it did get better as the day went on and one member had to shout over for assistance as both his rods went at the same time,

As I was in the water Neil went to assist and landed a nice carp as I go out to take the photo,

Mistral was a little slower and didnt get full updates but we had quite a few members fishing down there on different tactics so that was good to see,

The match on Marin produced a good winning weight and I have posted up the match result,

As we are looking at improving the marginal cover on all 3 lakes I have been collecting Iris pods again and Lorraine assisted by de-seeding the pods and bagging up the seeds in batches,

These will now go into the fridge in the container for 3 months for the Seed stratification so hopefully more will germinate next year when we plant them up in pots,

With Neil helping me we have bridged the gaps caused by the erosion of the bank and we are looking at backfilling this over the new few days (We are evaluating the situation in the morning as it has been a long day) and wasnt easy getting the bank clear of tree stumps especially the ones that went in the water :(

But the foundations are in and the cones are around the affected area whilst we continue this work,

We have the weekly Thursday club match on Mistral so check the board in the morning for what pegs are available for our members to fish,

Lorraine will also be in tomorrow if anybody wants any food from the cafe :)

Hope you all had a great Wednesday especially those fishing today
