Luton Wardown parkrun

Luton Wardown parkrun Free, weekly, timed, 5k run. Luton Wardown parkrun is a free 5km run that takes place at 9am each Saturday year round.

It is completely free to enter and people of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part. parkrun is all about exercising regularly in beautiful surroundings with other people from the local community. So please join us after each run for a coffee in the cricket club next to the park.

We need some volunteers for essential roles this Saturday before we can go ahead. Come and wear your high viz with pride, and start the weekend with a smile! We need:
- x1 timekeeper
- x1 finish token support
- x2 or 3 barcode scanners (a quicker runner could do this after their run)
- x1 tailwalker
- multiple marshals

We now have a full roster so a big thank you to everyone that has volunteered for tomorrow. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We are celebrating the one millionth parkrun this weekend. Since October 2004, 8.3 million have taken part and more than one million different people have volunteered. That adds up to park runners crossing the finish line 138 million times. 😮

Looking forward to seeing you for all the milestones and other celebrations.

Saturday's parkrun was part of Volunteers Week.
Kate, who was the run director, started her parkrun journey by volunteering with us as part of her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. She obviously liked it as she kept coming back! Saturday was her 206th volunteer stint (she is usually our token guru).
We could do with some more volunteers for this Saturday when parkrun will celebrate it's 1 millionth event!

Well that was a busy parkrunday!!

Heat, milestones (including 250 parkruns for each of these smiley people), first-timers, pacers, tourists, cake, the funfair, thoughts of further Eid celebrations, and lots of chat with lovely people in the sunshine.

Thank you everyone who stepped up when asked to do so 🙂
The results will be out as fast as rubbish eyesight, tiredness and 'dealing with the aftermath!' allows!.
In the meantime, how was your parkrunday?

The sun is shining, the roster is looking good, there are milestones and celebrations so there will be cake afterwards, the café is open for business with a familiar face running it (possibly for one week only!)
AND it is Chase the Pacer week, although we only have 6 so far so room for lots more 😀
