My main aim is to offer students the opportunity to learn co-ordination, rhythm, self-discipline, self-confidence, and social skills in a happy, exciting and professional environment. The School welcomes children with a variety of abilities and i
nterests in dance. Ballet Classes for children 4,5,6yrs- concentrate on helping the child learn the basis of the ballet technique through creative and imaginative dance. Often the class will have a weekly theme for example, A Day at the Circus. - A clown helps the child use their imagination and creates a character while walking the tightrope helps develop their demi-pointe (walking on tip-toes) and introduces balance. Ballet classes for children 6,7,8yrs - This age group will work at a more technical level each week following the BBO Classical Ballet Exam Syllabus, Preliminary grade. They will begin each class with a body warm up ensuring each part of the body is safely prepared and ready for dance, after which they will work at the ballet barre followed by centre work. Intermediate to Advanced class - This is our advanced dance class for teenage dancers who seek a more individualized class with consistent help and feedback from the teacher. The class will commence with ballet barre exercises which consists of placement exercises, stretches and balances. The centre combinations include adagios, waltzes, turns, petit allegro and grande jetes. When the appropriate level of ability has been reached, the pupils will begin pointe work at the barre gradually working towards centre work. Other types of Dance available - The Lynsey Allen School of Ballet will also give pupils the opportunity to learn other forms of dance including modern theatre, lyrical and song and dance. Children may be given the chance to take part in local dance festivals depending on the progress and desire of the child. Pupils wishing to be entered into a festival must attend at least 2 lessons per week. This will give them the valuable experience of stage work. *Please note extra commitment and extra classes will be held for festival and exam work.
