The thing about motivation is that it comes and goes. Never put all your trust in it to achieve your goals because there will be days, weeks, months and even years sometimes that you will have to keep focused but not necessarily feel “motivated”.

My training is not what it was but I do feel I am going in the right direction. I never stopped training which is something I’m so thankful I kept going. Besides your fitness goals everyone needs to be doing some sort of activity for your health, both physical and mental.

As my Nana always told me “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”

You won’t gain as much muscle as you think.

2016 to 2022

Can you guess the weight difference???

7 pound….and that took 7 years. Yes it took me 7 years to gain 7 pound of muscle and that was with consistent training.

For newbies to the gym you will have a spike of muscle gain at the very start but it soon evens out and slows down.

It’s all well and good saying you have gained pounds in a short space of time but it won’t be muscle gain. The likely hood is you have just gained body fat, and maybe added some kinder lighting.

Muscle gain takes time and consistency. Stop buying into the idea that you are going to make massive amounts of lean muscle in a short space of time.

For most women gaining 1 to 2 pounds of lean muscle is pretty standard per year. Bring in factors like height, age, diet, training effort supplementation and existing muscle will make a difference but not by much.

The problem I see most people having is effort & consistency, they don’t work to failure &/or have no consistency. Working to failure is extremely important, you need to get used to pushing past the discomfort and pushing to absolute failure.

Stop buying into the idea that you are going to gain a load of muscle in a year.

Sorry to be a total bummer guys but I’m sick of people buying into bull s**t.

Healthy diets are always the best!!

Always prioritise your health, because if your body is healthy everything will respond so much easier no matter what your goal may be.

Here are some tips

💪🏻 Realise your goal is yours and no one else’s. Do not blame other people on your diet decisions…..you are the only one who can achieve your goal
🍎 Eat protein with every meal, base your meal around your protein
🍎 Eat whole food when you can and not ready meals
🍎 Educate yourself on macros
🍎 Prep your meals or prepare what you are going to be eating
🍎 Try not to get too hungry, this can cause binge eating
🍎 If you do go off plan dust yourself off and get back to it. Don’t spiral
🍎 Understand this is how you should be eating. Eat good, feel good. Eat crap feel crap.
🍎 EAT YOUR VEG!!! I have never had a client who was not dropping weight because of the amount of veg they eat. I don’t even track veg when I diet. (Starchy veg like potatoes do need tracked as they are carbs. )
🍎 Supplements are exactly that, you do not need to take them if you don’t need them.
🍎 Calories are important if your goal is to lose weight, so understanding how many you are eating daily is important.
🍎 Banking calories isn’t as simple as it seems. Think of it more as 2 steps forward 1 back. Not something I would recommend

The more in control you are of your diet the easier it is to reflect back and see what is working and what is not. If you are eating whatever you want when you want it can result in multiple things being the problem and just makes everything harder to understand.
