Craigavon Cowboys The Craigavon Cowboys American Football Club: Senior, Youth and Flag teams. The Cowboys were founded in 1986, and that year we won the first ever Shamrock Bowl.

Register your interest as a player, coach, or volunteer for either our youth team (15-18) flag team (15+) or senior team (18+)

We are always looking to grow our team and organisation. We welcome new players, new coaches and fans of the sport down on Sundays. 🟡⚫️A Partnership We’re Proud Of 🟠⚫️

This season, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming three Lurgan Rugby players into the Craigavon Cowboys youth programme, and what a season it’s been for these three lads. 🏈

For all three, this was their first season playing American Football, stepping outside their usual rugby environment and taking on a completely new challenge.

And they’ve absolutely embraced it.

What makes this partnership between Lurgan Rugby and Craigavon Cowboys so important is that it’s about more than just sport. It’s about bringing two local sporting communities together, giving young people the opportunity to try something different, develop new skills, make new friends and ultimately become better athletes.

Rugby and American Football share plenty of similarities, but both bring different skills, challenges and experiences. Seeing these lads take what they’ve learned through rugby and apply it to American Football has been brilliant to watch.

We’re incredibly proud of these three lads, their commitment and the way they’ve represented both clubs throughout the season. 👏

And we’re equally proud of the partnership between Lurgan Rugby and Craigavon Cowboys. This is exactly what local sport should be about: working together, creating opportunities and helping young people develop.

💚🖤 A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO JUST A CHAT! 🖤💚

Everyone at Craigavon Cowboys would like to send our biggest congratulations to our friends at Just A Chat on securing an incredible £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland. 👏

Just A Chat is a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts, and we’ve seen first-hand the difference they make within our local community. Their commitment to creating a safe, supportive and welcoming space for people, while building genuine connections and friendships, is something we have huge admiration for.

This funding is a fantastic recognition of the work Amy, Jack, Conor and the whole Just A Chat family put in week after week. It means they can continue to support more people, create more opportunities and grow something that has already made such a positive impact. ❤️

NEW BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
Following yesterday’s AGM, we can now officially confirm the make-up of our new board for the upcoming season!

Treasurer: Sinéad Kerr
Secretary: Seán Kerr
Development Officer: Jason Duddy
Marketing Officer: Shaun Breen

A huge thank you to our previous board for all their hard work, commitment and effort in helping move the club forward.

Congratulations to everyone who has been re-elected, and to those taking on new positions. A special congratulations to Mark McAuley as he steps into the role of Chairperson.

We have no doubt that he’ll lead the club forward and bring plenty of energy and ideas as we continue to grow. 👏🏻

A special mention also goes to our outgoing President, Jason Duddy, who has led the club for the last three years and put a huge amount of work in behind the scenes.

We’re delighted that Jason will remain on the board as Development Officer, where he’ll continue to support the club and incoming President Mark as we look to take the Cowboys forward. 🧡

A new season, a new board and plenty to look forward to.

This past Sunday, we joined forces for a fantastic day of sport with Just A Chat, starting by introducing their youth players to flag football, giving them the chance to try something completely new, learn the basics and, most importantly, have fun.

We then finished the day with our own teams going head-to-head in a game of football. Unfortunately, the result didn’t go our way, but honestly, that wasn’t the most important part of the day.

The bigger picture is the moments, conversations and opportunities that sport can create.

Sometimes, all it takes is a bit of encouragement, a chance to get involved, a new experience, or simply a chat with someone who might be struggling.

Sport brings people together. It creates friendships, builds confidence and gives people somewhere to belong.

That’s what days like Sunday are really about. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who played, coached, supported and helped make the day happen.
