Glenavon FC Academy Official Facebook of Glenavon FC Academy based in Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland Glenavon FC's Academy consists of teams from Under 7s to Under 18s.

The Glenavon Academy is now headed by Chris Chambers and have a number of UEFA A Licence and UEFA B Licence coaches. In recent times the Club have introduced various coaching programmes and training camps aimed at increasing the numbers within the Academy. These have included the Glenavon FC Academy Club Affiliation Programme, Schools Programme, Aces and our annual Football Camps at Easter, Summer and Halloween.

Applications are still open for our full time scholarship programme starting in September 2026.

This two year programmes combines full time education with daily pitch and gym sessions.
Players will study a BTEC Level 3 Extended National Diploma in Sport (the equivalent of 3 A levels and 168 UCAS points) while also training on a daily basis with Glenavon FC academy coaches.

Well done to the 2017s who came away with the win on Saturday past. Coach Aaron, said, β€œThe 2017’s enjoyed their Saturday morning Tournament in Belfast. Up against some really good opposition the boys started slow but really stepped up their game the further on they went.

The boys showed good discipline and gave incredible effort all day to eventually take top spot in the end that was thoroughly deserved.

An absolute joy to watch the boys were again attracting positive attention from organisers and applause from other people that were just there enjoying the tournament.

These boys continue to grow and develop individually and also as a group who no doubt will continue to have successful moments. Very exciting for the club πŸ’™πŸ’«πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺβš½οΈβ€

Coach Kyle said, β€œA tough but positive day overall at the All-Ireland Tournament, with the boys reaching the semi-finals before narrowly losing 1-0 against southern team. Having three southern academy teams in our group, and coleraine and Ballymena highlighted the challenge we face when competing at this level.

Despite that, the boys showed great character, competed well, and found a way to reach the semi-finals. While the result was disappointing, there is plenty to be positive about. Reaching the semi-finals of a tournament of this calibre is an achievement in itself, and the focus now is on taking the lessons from today, continuing to work hard, and using the experience to drive future development.”

On Saturday our 2017’s enjoyed a trip up North to the Portrush tournament.

Coach Aaron H said, β€œThe lads had a fast paced well deserved start with topping the group, which took them into the semi final vs Coleraine. Yet again a really fast start and were very unlucky not to get themselves ahead, but a quick break from coleraine saw the boys go behind with a well taken goal, the push for the equaliser left the boys open and unfortunately went down 2-0 in the end .

The boys showed real class throughout and some exciting moments, but just have to learn how to keep together to see out the difficult moments they are faced with when they are up against strong opposition. Great learning and a super day out in the port and got to chant Glenavon songs for the Aces in their sections followed up by a full pitch invasion as they took top spot in another brilliant tournament from the aces …. WE DO THIS TOGETHER πŸ’™βš½οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ‘β€

Glenavon 2016 Aces were in action at the Desy Jennings Football Festival in Newry on Saturday.

Coach Stevie said, β€œ After a challenging group stage, with three 15-minute games back-to-back against tough opposition, the boys ended up in the Plate.

They lifted their game significantly in the knockout stages and were excellent throughout those three matches, beating Warrenpoint 1-0 in the QF and Midway 2-0 in the SF, before losing out narrowly 2-1 to Newry City in an exciting final that could have gone either way!

Credit to the boys who showed great energy, character and commitment, and played some lovely attacking football along the way!”
