So, the issue is the horse gets the tongue over the bit and when its not over the bit he is strong. The Winning Tongue Plate bits are kind on the tongue as the central joint is protected by a smooth cover which allows the bit to collapse to an extent but stops collapsing before it pinches the side cheeks of the horse mouth. The tongue plate keeps the tongue in the right place under the bit, which the horse is happier to keep there as it is comfortable with no linkage joints on the tongue surface. The extra bit ring below the large bit ring helps bring a bit of poll leverage bringing the head carriage lower and onto the bit while helping the rider keep a light hand and less rider tension.

With Trail Hunting starting there is always the issue of the horses that pull, sometimes it is exhuberance as horses love to run as a herd. It could be something else, sharp teeth, saddle fit, or the wrong bit for the horses mouth profile, tongue size or bit fit, so its worth a recheck if these possibilities exist.
