Our Aim
Our vision is for the development of football to engage and excite people into a lifelong commitment to sport.
•To provide quality, safe opportunities for young people of all ages in our community.
•To help people to realise their potential, develop personal skill and confidence.
•To introduce people to football regardless of age, ability, s*x, religion and ethnic background.
•To impr
ove the performance of players, coaches and volunteers within the community.
•To provide a safe and positive alternative place to go other than playing on the streets. Our Club
Leigh Genesis FC is an FA Charter Standard Community Club, one of only 25 in the Lancashire County FA and just 3 in the Wigan & Leigh Borough. We are proud of our Chartered Standard Community Status as this is the highest possible award for grassroots football. It recognises that we are a well-managed club providing quality coaching across all age groups for both male and females
We branch out into the community with Soccer School, Goalkeeping Network, Trim Down Shape Up, Men’s Social Football, Community Girls training sessions and have a Satellite Club link with Lowton High School for girls in school years 7, 8 & 9. In October 2014 we were awarded the “Club of the year” in the Wigan Borough Sports Awards then went on to win the same award in the Greater Manchester Sports Awards in November. In 2015 we were awarded Lancashire FA Community Club Of The Year and went on to win the Northwest Regional Award. We were 3rd placed finalists in the Wigan Borough Sports Awards
Our Coaches
In order to best improve our player’s technical ability and enjoyment of the game we have invested heavily in our qualified coaches. We have some 50 coaches with qualifications ranging from FA Level 1 to UEFA A Pro-Licence. All our qualified coaches are trained in child safeguarding, emergency aid and have completed an Enhanced FA Criminal Record Check. Our Teams
We currently have 40 teams playing in over 7 leagues. We provide football for all levels of ability. Some of our teams play at the top level of their competition whilst other teams continue to develop in lower league competitions. Teams start at Under 5 with our Soccer Academy rising each year through to U18’s then U21’s. In the Open Age categories we have a First Team & Reserves and also run Veterans Teams. Around 10% of our membership is female with girl’s teams at U10, 12 & a development group at younger ages. Our teams play Saturday, Sunday and some midweek depending upon which league they compete in. The football season typically runs from September through to May with some younger age groups having a winter break. All teams train at least 1 day per week and we train all year round. We have winter training venues with all-weather pitches and floodlights. Presentation Nights are in June thus completing a year round spell of football activity. Our Home
Our home is at Lowton High School, where we have access to 4 grass pitches, changing rooms, toilets, ample car parking and a Club House. The site has a full size floodlit Astroturf pitch which is already in use by many of our teams. We have plans for a 3g MUGA pitch which we hope will be ready in December.
