Tomorrow we head to take on Atherton Town FC in the fantastically organised pre season tournament The Charles Dickens Cup by Pemberton FC.

We won this last year so have our sights on retaining it but won’t be overlooking our opposition tomorrow who have recruited well in the summer and will no doubt pose a challenge to our lads still greasing the pre season wheels 😂

A fantastic day at the office for both teams who kicked off their league campaigns with 3 points on the board!

No time to rest, we go again next week with a mid week Tuesday game for the 1sts away against Bond Street United and then Thursday night see’s the 2nd team host Bond Street Athletic at home followed by a tough home fixture on the Sunday against Platt Bridge Athletic

Good result for the East Leigh AFC 1st team today as we ran away 5-2 winners against a Bond Street BC FC Athletic team boasting some great talent. Sweltering heat meant manager James Cain continued to rotate the team, even resting captain Ben Shiel at one point 😝

We move on to our next fixture on Thursday night against Horwich Town Rangers Reserves

East Leigh United were in action today against fellow Division 4 side Highfield Grange.

A great result for the lads with an even first half where we gifted them 2 own goals, the team showed great determination and grit to fight back into the game and come away 6-3 winners with goals from Jack Jones, Kaine Turner and a hat trick from Callum Tarbuck

The management team commented “our pre season has been great, the lads have listened well to the tactics and with some quality additions to the squad there is a real positive atmosphere throughout which is converting into confidence”

Onwards next week to a tough test against Division 1 opposition in the Charles Dickens Cup.

Our 1st team had a great result today against a division 2 team who were a tough test for us, thanks to Platt Bridge Fc for hosting today. Scoreline isn’t a reflection on the team they are and they’ll challenge that league for sure.

Training drills from the last two weeks are coming into the match scenario’s, these talented lads are listening to instruction so well and they are also playing with confidence.

Watching from the sidelines was a pleasure to see the football being played!

Onwards we go and hope to maintain this identity 🔵🔴
