Tweedmouth Amateurs edged a five-goal thriller 3–2 in an entertaining and tightly contested encounter.

The match was played at a high tempo from the outset, with chances created at both ends in an end-to-end contest. Lowick United struggled to maintain sustained control, with a costly red card further swinging momentum in Tweedmouth Amateurs’ favour as the match progressed.

MATCH REPORT ⚽️

With 14 players unavailable due to holidays and international clearance not coming through in time, Lowick United went into today’s game with a seriously depleted squad.

The situation meant we had to get creative with the line-up — including a goalkeeper and an OAP leading the line up front! 😂

The boys took the challenge in their stride, with everyone putting in a massive shift. Players stepped into unfamiliar positions, worked for each other and showed a brilliant attitude from the first whistle to the last.

Lowick’s goal came through David Glennie, after some excellent work from Lennon Stewart, who provided the assist.

⭐ Man of the Match: Finley Agnew

Finley put in an outstanding performance, showing quality, composure and a fantastic work rate throughout.

With so many lads missing and probably one of the more unconventional starting XIs we’ll field this season, there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance.

Our final pre season game seen us travel away to Greenlaw. 18 players available and still had 8 missing which is fantastic. Really pleased with the progress the club has been making over the last year and hopefully it can continue into the new league this season

Another good run out for the lads yesterday at Chirnside.

More minutes in the legs . The boys battled hard in the heat and generally kept their shape well. Let ourselves down conceding some silly goals from set pieces but that’s what pre seasons for.

⚽ A very solid first pre-season performance from the lads this afternoon.

It was great to get valuable minutes into the legs and give everyone an opportunity to build match fitness. A number of players were asked to play in unfamiliar positions and adapted brilliantly, showing great versatility, commitment and a real team-first attitude.

The work rate, togetherness and desire shown from the first whistle to the last were outstanding. There are plenty of positives to take from today’s performance, and it’s a great platform to build on as we continue our preparations for the new season.
