What a start.
Last night we kicked off our Blacksails Beginners Course and it was awesome.
A full room of people stepping onto the mats, most of them with zero experience, all there to learn something new, challenge themselves and push themselves outside their comfort zone.
No egos.
No pressure.
Just learning, movement and a lot of laughs.
The focus for the first session was simple — understanding the main positions in grappling, getting comfortable on the mats and starting to feel how your training partner reacts.
Everyone put the effort in and the energy in the room was spot on.
This is exactly why we run these courses — to give people a proper introduction to No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu in a structured, welcoming environment.
Massive respect to everyone who showed up and got involved.

Our 8 Week Beginners No-Gi Grappling Course starts this Thursday and is now fully booked.
We’ve had a huge amount of interest in this course and all available spaces have now been taken.
This structured 8-week programme is designed specifically for complete beginners, covering the fundamentals of No-Gi grappling, positional control, escapes and submissions in a supportive training environment.
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone onto the mats this week.
Due to the demand, we’ll be announcing the next beginners course very soon.

Going into march we will have a new beginners nogi grappling course starting and a beginners MMA class also on Thursday evenings. The beginners course will be for complete beginners over an 8 week period starting march 5th, drop us a message to secure your spot. Limited spaces.

Away this weekend grapple industries in London. Both George and Liam done themselves proud.
George coming away with a 2nd place in the gi, for those that know Blacksails we are predominantly nogi only, absolutely great achievement. Liam grabbed another 2nd place victory in his nogi bracket. The lads put on a show and their hard work & training has paid dividends. Time for a Sunday rest and we go again tomorrow ready for another comp on Feb 14th
