Congratulations to Alfred who won the 2026 Men’s Singles Competition today. He becomes the third generation of the Vicker’s family to win the trophy! Commiserations to Roger, who valiantly fought but couldn’t repeat his win from last night in the mixed doubles. (6-2 6-3) Well done to both of you. Another great match to watch.

A lovely match this morning in the Ladies Singles Final. Well done to Jeanette for fighting with a smile on her face to the end. Great effort and Sporting Spirit! Huge Congratulations to Marie, who is probably our youngest ever winner! Your tennis was a joy to watch. (6-0 6-0) Well done!!

These are my favourite LLTC Cups. Both with inscriptions dating back to 1921. The Men’s Trophy is inscribed with “Presented by The President, SW Marsden in 1921” and the smaller, but perfectly formed, Ladies Trophy was first presented by Mrs E Sharpley, also in 1921. The two lucky winners of the Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles will be taking these home with them today. Please pop down and support our players - Maria and Jeanette at 1200 and Roger and Alfred at 1400.

Congratulations Roger and Jeanette for winning this year’s Mixed Doubles comp! A fantastic match! Commiserations to Bridget and Mark. You all played so well. We almost had that 3rd set! Although I’m not sure you would have seen the ball. Fabulous support. Well done everyone. Jeanette is back on court at 1200 tomorrow. Could someone make sure that she has left The Wheatsheaf 😂. Singles Day tomorrow. Look forward to seeing you all again!

Our Finals Weekend kicks off tomorrow evening, Friday 4th September with our Mixed Doubles Final at 5.30pm. The Wheatsheaf will have jugs of Pimms and Barney’s Buns will be in full swing if you want to make the most of what will be a sunny evening with great tennis! This is the H Kirby Challenge Trophy that will be presented to the winners after the match. Good luck to Bridget, Mark, Roger and Jeanette.

This week saw two semi final matches for the Men’s and Women’s Comp. Angus and Pete move into the final where they will meet the winners of Monday’s match between Alfred and Mo vs Roger and Mark. Commiserations to Andrew and Terry. There was some great tennis last Friday and a great turn out of tournament supporters.

Today’s Ladies’ Doubles’ semi final saw a valiant effort by Misako and Jane to fight back but just missed out on a 3rd set. Big Congratulations to Annika and Jay who will play the final on Sunday 6 September at 12 noon! Once again, thanks to those who came to support.

Well played to you all and thank you everyone who entered the women’s doubles this year and have completed all their matches perfectly on time.

A perfect afternoon for our Men’s Singles Semi Final between Alfred and Louis. The standard of tennis was a joy to watch. Louis put up a great fight but Alfred secured his place in this year’s Final. Which will be played on Saturday 5th September. More information about our finals weekend to follow. We have four more matches to go!

Huge Congrats to Bridget and Mark who beat Jane and Pete 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in the Semi final of the mixed doubles. They will play the winner of Roger/Janette vs Andy/Jay in the final on Friday 4th September at 5.30pm. Well done. A deserved win.
