Wow, what a day at our Kathryn Stewart School highland dancing competition in Loughbrickland yesterday!
We have a lot of ‘thank yous’ to do…..
Firstly we would like to thank everyone who came to support our comp and we hope you all had a good day as we loved having you all. 😊
A huge well done to all dancers and well done to our trophy winners, pictured below 🤩 It was lovely to have so many entries after not running our competition last year. (There might have been a wedding happening around this time last year, which kind of got in the way 🙈🙈)
Next up, we need to thank our dance families who were so kind in bringing raffle prizes, traybakes, etc and for the help with all the extra little bits and pieces. (Bringing swords, carting things in and out from cars etc.) We are so grateful for your support and so lucky to have you all in our team. 💖 Also, a massive thanks to members of other dance schools who helped put out extra chairs and provided an extra helping hand when needed. It was so very much appreciated.
Thank you to our 2 wonderful judges, Tracey and Eileen Graham from Galashiels. It was so lovely having you both again 💖
Thank you to our amazing piper for the day, Henry. At 13 years of age, it is a huge task to pipe for so many dancers and we are delighted to have another dancing piper starting out (I think Jack’s extra pleased to get a break 😆)
Henry also ended up doing a bit of babysitting and giving out medals. You just never know what jobs you’ll end up with when you come to our comps 🙈🤣
Thank you to the Homeland Diner (Our dance mum Charlene) for the amazing food and for your hard work with all the prep before hand) The food was amazing! 😍
Thank you to our amazing kitchen ladies Audrey and Melanie…. And then of course, we had our money man Sam, who done a fantastic job! We already have him booked again for next year 😆
Thank you to Valerie for all the running about in the background doing all the jobs the rest of us don’t even think of. Any jobs needing sorted, we know Valerie is always on them!
Thank you to the Sir Henry Wilson Memorial District Orange Hall for the use of our fantastic Venue as always. Also a big thank you to Raymond for your help on what was a very, very busy day for us. It’s very much appreciated by the dance school.
Thank you to our Joders (Jodie Turner) for always being near by with a needle and thread for any last minute costume adjustments needed! We are very glad to have you because sewing wouldn’t be up there as a strength of ours! 🤣
Then lastly but certainly not least, the main women. The ‘comp dream team’….. Amy, Emily, Jodie, Sarah and Emma.
A certain wee man was due to come just weeks before our comp time and another year without a competition was looking likely 🤰 👶 . However these girls weren’t for hearing tell of it. They took on the roll of organising the competition and what a job they done! We are so lucky to have you all ❤️
Going back to classes after Archie arrived, I had a long, long list in my head of things needing sorted for the competition but everything was covered.
The girls also asked to pass on their thanks to everyone.
Girls, yous are just amazing 💖 Thank you from all of us in KSSHD!
We hope we haven’t forgotten anyone but THANK YOU to anyone who helped us in any way at all in running yesterday’s competition. We are so grateful for all help, big or small.
We hope to see you all back again in 2027!
Kathryn and Jack x
