Mike's Bikes Mike's Bikes is a shop dedicated towards bike repairs, with a special emphasis on road bikes and cross country mountain bikes.

rained mechanics who believe in torque wrenches, perfectly balanced wheels and on eking out the absolute most from every bike that comes through our doors. We have worked with £10,000+ bikes, have extensive experience with Di2, tubulars and will happily weigh and clean everything before giving it back to you! Mike's Bikes is own and run by Mike (namely, me). I have been involved in the bike trade for more than 10 years, including working as a mechanic on everything from £300 mountain bikes to £10,00+ superbikes. All of my staff are kept current and up to date on all new technology in the biking world, and if you bring us something we haven't heard of it or know how to fix we will find out! We are a registered company and have comprehensive insurance and qualifications, so feel free to give us an email or phone to talk about your needs.

Been a busy and varied day today!

Bike 1: Customer had impulse bought a new frameset so a full frame swap required. This also included completely stripping and rebuilding the brake calipers as they had seized up. A touch delicate, but quite a carthartic experience.

Bike 2: Trek Session DH bike required a full service ready for an Alps holiday - nice change from the road bikes I usually see!

Bike 3: Thorn touring tandem which needed a Rohloff oil change, new chains and a service ready for another holiday. I love working on tandems, they offer a unique way of working.

Bike 4: Specialized Allez with snapped off frame cable adjusters. Drilled out, tapped and new adjusters fitted. Fiddly and time consuming, but so satisfying!

We now offer a full waxing service for chains!

Having now trialled it for several months and a few thousand kilometres, we are happy to say that we agree with Zero Friction Cycling (https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au) and we'd like to offer this to our customers.

If you buy a new chain and cassette from us we can clean it, wax it and fit it for an additional £10 and you can enjoy a faster, quieter, smoother and cleaner drivetrain too!

This BB had really seized into place. We went through the small tools, the big tools, heat and the big vice before it eventually came out in pieces. The new one will be going back in with a LOT of copper slip anti-seize compound!

Double coloured bar tape can be a real pain, but time, patience and expertise makes it look totally seamless.
