Thank you Gintarė Vinkauskaitė for the appreciation post ♥️
Just an FYI if you work 1:2:1 with a personal trainer or with a fitness instructor in a group setting this should be the standard procedure. Providing an alternative exercise for the client isn’t just about what is most convenient for you as a trainer but what makes most sense for them as an individual.
- Is there a movement pattern or plane of motion that they’re potentially missing out on?
- How can we still work similar muscle groups in a different way which doesn’t aggravate the injury?
- Is there any weak links we can focus to prevent further injuries?
- Can I provide an alternative which is progressive enough for the client?
Then if you are working in a group setting there are other factors you have to consider such as flow of the session, time, equipment available and of course taking the time to show them the alternative exercise so they feel included and confident in what they are doing.
