Another tournament has come and gone; this time, it was Winter 2026. 272 matches completed, 188 bananas consumed, and 5000 third shot drives executed.

As is often the case with posts like these, our next tournament is on its way, and entries are open! Come join us in North London on 12 outdoor courts on the 17th of May!

Big news; Beacon School, Kentish Town is now open and it’s our first location where you can book your very own private pickleball courts! And much more importantly we've just put down a permanent pink kitchen line to put an end once and for all to any kitchen infringements!

You can also come and play at our social sessions, sign up for our junior camps, or arrange a corporate event for the office. The venue is just a short walk from the station and has a car park, making it super easy to get to.

So close yet so far. That was the story of nationals for Alex this year with his two 4th place finishes in mixed and gender doubles. Now you could say that he was in the open category playing against the biggest and best the UK has to offer and you'd be right but ultimately he's still the first loser in our eyes. You'll get em next time buddy

Now the same cannot be said for all lemon coaches this year as the dynamic and half hungover brotherly duo of Jonah and Dylan dug in deep to secure the Gold at 4.0. This was no mean feat primarily because one member of this duo who will remain unnamed (cough, Dylan, cough) was working on 1 hour of sleep as a result of a Halloween party that might have got slightly out of hand. Notable mentions must also go to Stell and Bertie who continued the Lemon tradition of playing up at major tournaments and secured their first wins at 4.0. Katia also played a blinder and narrowly missed out on a medal at 4.0 mixed with the grandfather of pickleball in the UK; Chris Mitchell whilst Josh and Niki secured Bronze at 3.5, and Ash with new partners galore for both categories also came away with some big wins.

All in all a much more successful weekend than the previous year at the Beautiful Bolton Arena where as a collective we only managed about 2 and half wins.

A few weeks ago Lemon Pickleball saw its Spring Tournament come and go. Just under 200 happy picklers trotted to the sunny suburbia known as Crouch End (or Highgate as we call it for SEO purposes). 323 matches took place, and with games to 11, some went as high as 18-16, others, unfortunately, could only reach the 11-0 mark, but the spirits were high and the d***s were strong (in the main).

Unfortunately, my experience of it was not quite as romantic, as I was so busy trying (and failing) to keep on schedule that most of what I can remember is frantically inputting scores. Anyway, there were some pretty spectacular matches and if you missed this one and want a piece of the action then fear not as you can sign-up for our Summer Tournament now which will be on the 2nd and 3rd of August!

Two full weeks of Junior Pickleball Easter Camp Complete, with over 50 future pros in attendance!

We had a good mix of first time players and some that have been coming to our after-school clubs and camps for a while now. We learnt the fundamentals of the beautiful game, with creative warmup drills, speed and reaction games and plenty of match play before tournament day on Friday 🏆

If you want to get your children involved or know of friends that might be interested send them our way! We still have spaces available on our Summer Half Term Camp and have opened bookings for all of our Summer Holiday Camps as well. All of which can be booked on the Lemon Pickleball App or through the link in our bio!

Another day another tournament for the Lemon team to takeover. This time it was the English Nationals Singles tournament in Loughborough and I have to say expectations were surprisingly high given Jonah and Alex’s record at national tournaments.

Both got off to a shaky start losing their fist game; Jonah in the cruelest of manners with a scoreline of 11-10 and Alex falling short of the number 1 seed James Chaudry by 11-6. Alex's massive ego took a hit and Jonah's self belief began to dwindle, however, both locked in and won enough group games and advanced into the knockout stages.

Unfortunately, in an epic battle, Jonah lost his quarter final match 18-16 (after many match points) to a worthy rival from Bradford and the focus of the Lemon Pickleball ultras unsurprisingly shifted to Alex's quarter final match on court 2 - coming out victorious - 15-10.

In the end, he was beaten in an epic semi-final match against Tom Turney to that dreaded score for the lemon team of 18-16 (after also having match points). Alex dug in for the 3rd place play-off and pushed through where he defeated Jack Edwards to take the crown of 3rd best Singles Pickleball player in the whole of England and Wales (a dubious claim considering some of the big players were missing but we don’t care).

Very honourable mentions to the lemon ultras Roberto and Stellina who with signs in hand supported the lemon team through thick and thin and must be given at least 75% credit for the Bronze. The other 25% should be given to HEAD, as we are nothing without their paddles. A big thanks to and all the volunteers as well for putting on such a great tournament!

A solid gold for the debut lemon pairing of Jonah and Alex at a Men's 18+ 4.5+ Tournament in Kent 🥇🍋

The pair dealt with plenty of shakes and bakes, some frankly wild drives and the odd egg shaped ball to take the big win with live commentary for all 46 viewers to see.

Certainly wasn't all plain sailing however especially for Jonah as he fought through the pain after being struck on the head by one of Alex's big overhead smashes. Nevertheless it preempted one of the all time great Pickleball commentary lines which you can swipe across to listen to on repeat to your hearts content!
