🟢🟡Last Weekend’s Results🟡🟢
Some tight games of cricket and great performances last weekend.
The 1st XI, despite a spirited bowling effort were a few runs light after being bowled all out for 154. Skipper Locke (25) and previous skipper Spicer (38) the pick of the batters and Alway (3/36) the highlight with the ball as they managed to pick up seven wickets before Shree Sanatan reached their target.
The 2nd XI managed to win an early contender for game of the season, chasing 250 off in the last over. Emilio Patino (5 wickets) the highlight of the bowling performance, as Quorn bowled Shree Sanatan 3rd XI out for 249. The chase seemed a big ask on a tricky pitch, but a 62 run partnership between Chris Cooper (52) and Adam Lee got Quorn into a position to challenge. Anish Mistry (26) and stand-in skipper Tom Wild (35) then helped bring them within range. Quorn then managed to stay in the game, until some tight bowling left 17 runs needed from 9 balls. Club Chairman Ross Errington (25) hit a massive 6 and a 4 to finish the over, leaving 7 to get from the last with Head of Cricket Tom Litchfield on strike. After crunching the first ball of the over through the covers for four to relieve any pressure, he managed to get the remaining 3 runs, to win the game with 3 balls to spare. A magnificent chase and team effort to deal with what felt like a big total!
The Sunday XI had another nail biter, beating a decent young Croxton Kerrial side with just one wicket! 1st XI captain’s 5fer a major highlight - landing a spot on the county honours board!
