Fantastic work by Exclusive Leisure Ltd on our new nets. It felt like they were up in no-time at all and the quality of work is great! If any other clubs are after new nets, we’d highly recommend them!

Another big thank you to our sponsors Barwood Land and all those involved in the project - we’ve been using them for a couple of months now and they’re brilliant. 🏏

🟢🟡Weekend Results🟡🟢

On Saturday our two sides had contrasting matches, with the 1st XI losing a tight one to Loughborough Town and the 2nd XI blowing away Cropston.

The 1s batted first with skipper Locke (34) and all rounder Tom Platts (36*) being the highlights on a day when the bowlers seemed to be on top.

A strong bowling and fielding followed, keeping it tight and squeezing the run rate at key times. A spell with Jack Child (3/32) in the wickets saw the game come down to the wire, before Loughborough managed to chase it down in the penultimate over with just 3 wickets remaining.

Meanwhile the 2s opening bowler Trystan Clark (6/43) and a faultless catching performance in the field, helped them rip through Cropston. They bowled them all out for 85 before knocking it off 2 down. Richard Sharp (35*) with the red inker to see them home. The win also takes them up to 3rd in the league! 🏏

🟢🟡Last Weekend’s Results🟡🟢

Some tight games of cricket and great performances last weekend.

The 1st XI, despite a spirited bowling effort were a few runs light after being bowled all out for 154. Skipper Locke (25) and previous skipper Spicer (38) the pick of the batters and Alway (3/36) the highlight with the ball as they managed to pick up seven wickets before Shree Sanatan reached their target.

The 2nd XI managed to win an early contender for game of the season, chasing 250 off in the last over. Emilio Patino (5 wickets) the highlight of the bowling performance, as Quorn bowled Shree Sanatan 3rd XI out for 249. The chase seemed a big ask on a tricky pitch, but a 62 run partnership between Chris Cooper (52) and Adam Lee got Quorn into a position to challenge. Anish Mistry (26) and stand-in skipper Tom Wild (35) then helped bring them within range. Quorn then managed to stay in the game, until some tight bowling left 17 runs needed from 9 balls. Club Chairman Ross Errington (25) hit a massive 6 and a 4 to finish the over, leaving 7 to get from the last with Head of Cricket Tom Litchfield on strike. After crunching the first ball of the over through the covers for four to relieve any pressure, he managed to get the remaining 3 runs, to win the game with 3 balls to spare. A magnificent chase and team effort to deal with what felt like a big total!

The Sunday XI had another nail biter, beating a decent young Croxton Kerrial side with just one wicket! 1st XI captain’s 5fer a major highlight - landing a spot on the county honours board!

🟢🟡 Weekend Roundup 🟡🟢

The 1st XI got back to winning ways after a dominant performance away at Ashby Hastings, whilst the 2nd XI suffered a loss at the hands of a strong Daman Iconz side.

The 1s set 251/4 batting first. A second wicket partnership of 96 between Dan Young (75) and Ebrahim Murad (31) saw a decent start. The position was then strengthened by a 4th wicket partnership of 90 between Ben Ragg (63) and Tom Platts (38).

The bowlers were then able to capitalise, a tight opening spell from Trystan Clark and Tom Platts meant the change bowlers could reap the rewards. Pagarani (3/36) and Alway (4/26) the pick of the bowlers, winning the match by over 100 runs.

The 2s however had mixed fortunes despite promising starts from Sharp (25), Patino (25) and Ollie Smeeton (35) and a bit of a flutter by the tail - they finished up on 150 all out.

Some spirit was shown in the bowling performance, reducing Daman to 58/4 before a solid 5th wicket partnership by the visitors broke the back of the chase. Plenty of positives in the performance, as they look to bounce back next week. 🏏

🌧️🌧️🌧️

Both of yesterday’s fixtures were rain affected, as the 1st XI lost to a strong Greenfields side and the 2nd XI managed to get the better of Appleby Magna.

Batting first, the 1s lost a couple of early wickets. At 18/2, Stuart Fielding (44) and Ebrahim Murad (30) put on a 76 run partnership for the 3rd wicket to give Quorn hope. However, they then lost 5 wickets for just 30 runs. The tail wagged with Robson (27) helping bring the total up to 159 all out. Greenfields came out of the blocks hot and were 97/3 when the rain came in the 17th over. With the revised target of 141 from 32, Greenfields knocked it off 6 wickets down despite a spirited bowling and fielding performance including a fantastic direct hit run out from Anish Mistry.

The 2nd XI worked hard to restrict Appleby Magna to 189. Dominic Watts the pick of the bowlers with 4/32 on the back of last week’s five-for. In a reply which was rain affected after 6 overs, Quorn managed to reach the revised target of 153 with 6 overs to go and 4 wickets in hand. Ben Smeeton with a brutal 49, including 3 maximums to break the back of the chase. 🟢🟡🟢
