Another club trip this weekend over to Kyle of Lochalsh with the club rib to explore the wreck of the Port Napier and another small wreck. A great weekend even with the weather trying its best to frighten us off!

Friday September 5th and the weather was stunning. The boat was launched in Findochty harbour in the afternoon and an impromptu opportunity for a dive presented itself to allow the new navigation system for the RIB to be put through it's paces. We headed out to the "Smallwood" a small wreck off of Portgordon sitting in around 12m of water. The new sonar is so good that it could almost have been a picture of the wreck itself on the screen! Upon dropping in we found the vis to be good at approx 15m and the small wreck was full of life, lobsters and ballan wrasse to name but a few!

Saturday 6th and we headed over to Capel Rock just out of Cullen Harbour. Ropes off at 9(ish) we headed out for the first of four waves. Weather again was favourable with a little to no chop on the surface. The shot line was already in and set up on the top of the rock just 5-6m below the surface. We dropped in and headed South dropping off the rock onto the sand. Vis was once again good at around 10m and the sea life and underwater topography did not disappoint! We worked our way round to the North side with a stunning wall with plenty of nooks and crannies for coral, fish and crustaceans with lobster, crab, ballan wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, ling, scorpion fish, nudibrancs, Dahlia and starfish plus lots more!

The weekend was drawn to a premature close due to high winds which were predicted for Sunday but it ended in style with a wonderful meal and a few refreshing beverages at The Admirals. Bring on the next Exped! πŸ‘ŒπŸ€ΏπŸš€πŸ¦žπŸ¦€πŸŸ

Cracking underwater conditions whilst diving the Unity last night. A little rough up top but worth the trip out.
