Bike Revolution with Outfit Moray

Bike Revolution with Outfit Moray Bike Revolution with Outfit Moray comprises of Bike Revolution (Enterprise) and Bike Revolution Delivery.

We're here to make cycling more accessible for everyone with affordable bikes for sale, plus bike hire, servicing and repairs from our workshop in Lossie, as well as developing cycling skills through Bikeability, led rides and inclusive cycling sessions. Bike Revolution (Enterprise) is Outfit Moray's social enterprise project set up in 2012 to get more people out on bikes by making cycling afforda

ble and accessible. They do this by providing affordable refurbished bikes for sale, bike maintenance classes, servicing, route guides. The project relies on generous donations of bikes from members of the community. No matter their condition we accept bikes or parts, which are then either lovingly refurbished or used as a donor and recycled. Our Bike Revolution (Delivery) team is responsible fo delivering Cycling Scotland's Bikeability training scheme, running bike fests, providing all ability cycling and learn to ride sessions. Well done to all the Anderson Primary P6 pupils who completed their Bikeability 2 training at the end of May.

Bikeability 2 teaches young people to start and stop with more confidence, pass stationary vehicles parked on a road, understand the road: signals, signs and road markings as well as negotiating the road: including quiet junctions, crossroads and roundabouts and sharing the road with other vehicles.

Please speak to your school to learn more about our Bikeability delivery.

If you ever doubted whether teaching children to ride bikes is worth it, just listen to this Seafield Primary School pupils's pure joy in this video!

Cycling is a lifelong skill and we all know how much it benefits our mental health and fitness, as well as being kinder to the planet, but one of the first things we noticed when we started delivering Bikeability in 2017, was how many pupils couldn't ride a bike.

In rural areas, cycling is often a vital way to travel, but not all families are able buy their children bikes, or access safe spaces to teach them how to cycle, which is why Bikeability is such a great project.

To help more families into cycling, our Bike Revolution (Delivery) team support pupils to start cycling alongside our Bikeability sessions in Moray schools, plus they have a range of adapted bikes for more inclusive sessions.

We also sell refurbished children's (and adults) bikes to make cycling more affordable and run family cycling activities during the school holidays, along with our popular bike skills sessions for ages 5+ (which often sells out through our newsletter).

If you need help teaching your child to ride a bike, please check out our website for some handy resources, tips and hints. https://outfitmoray.com/learn-to-cycle/

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡² Bikes for The Gambia πŸ‡¬πŸ‡²

For many reasons, we aren't able to refurbish all of the bikes given to us, particularly those that would cost more to fix than we would want to sell it for.

These bikes are often harvested for parts, before being taken away for metal recycling.

However, we were recently contacted by a bike redirection company, who collects bikes from all over Scotland and ships them en masse to Africa.

In countries like The Gambia, where cycling is the primary mode of transport, repairing and refurbishing them is much cheaper, so all these bikes will have a new lease of life on another continent.

They also kindly donated Β£200 as a thank you, which will help Outfit Moray support young people right here in Moray, which completes the donation circle!
