Upper back strength & mobility work ✨

These exercises are designed to help improve posture, open the chest, strengthen the upper back, and reduce tension through the neck and shoulders. Small, consistent movements can make a huge difference in how your body feels day to day.

Focus points:
• Slow controlled movement
• Relax the neck & shoulders
• Open through the chest
• Build strength through the upper back
• Quality over quantity

Perfect as a warm up, mobility session, or part of rehab/prehab work 💪🏼

What a great day for their 10km sponsored run.

It was a bit chilly 🥶 for May, but it is Scotland after all. And everyone still turned up ready to enjoy the beautiful scenic run.
A fantastic very well organised run 🏃🏻 🙌

I loved doing the warm up 🤸🏼‍♂️for the runners & then cheering them over the finish line as they came in.

Big shout out to all the team at archerfield for such a great event. To for all the tech support in the warm up & also shout out to for supplying my platform for my warm up. I love trucks!

Well done to everyone who ran but an extra big shout out to Gerry who completed it on his 85th birthday 💪🏻 what an inspiration to us all.

Also great to bump into GB men’s curling captain ,

I keep seeing so many women (and some men) spending session after session on the cardio machines… and avoiding the weights section completely.

Treadmill. Cross trainer. Bike. On repeat .

Every time.

And honestly — I get it.

It can feel intimidating.

You might think lifting weights will make you “bulky.”

Or that cardio is the best way to lose fat.

But here’s the truth 👇

Lifting weights is one of the BEST things you can do for your body long term -

Lifting weights are good for:

⭐ Building muscle- definition

⭐ Boosts your metabolism (you burn more calories at rest)

⭐ Strengthening bones/ joints and reducing injury risk- this is a big thing as you age!

⭐ Improving confidence and body shape

⭐ Supporting long-term health (especially with women as hormones change)

Cardio has its place 💯 it’s great for heart health.

But doing endless cardio without strength training?

That’s where a lot of people get stuck.

If your goal is to feel strong, have some muscle definition and actually change your body composition — weights need to be part of your routine.

You don’t need to live in the gym

You don’t need to have a gym membership

You don’t need to spend hours working out

You don’t need to lift heavy straight away

You just need to start.

Learn the basics - that’s what works

(Get professional advice 🙋🏼‍♀️)

Pick up the dumbbells.

You won’t get bulky

You will get health & strong

💫 Your future body will thank you 💫

Shoes on. Head set. Lift better.

Two small details I see missed all the time in the gym … and both can massively affect your performance, comfort and injury risk.

👟 Wear the right shoes

Your feet are your foundation. Soft, cushioned running trainers might feel comfy, but they absorb force and reduce stability. When you’re pressing, you want to drive power from the floor up through your body. A flatter, more stable shoe (or even lifting barefoot depending on the exercise and environment) helps you stay grounded, improves force transfer and keeps you more controlled under load.

🧠 Check your head alignment

Your head position influences your whole spine. Lifting with your chin poked up or head lifting off the bench can place unnecessary strain through your neck and shoulders. Instead, think about keeping the back of your head gently resting on the bench, chin slightly tucked, and back of the neck long. This helps maintain stronger, safer positioning and better lifting mechanics.

Strong lifts are built on solid foundations and good positioning — not just heavier weights.

Next time you set up on a bench, take 5 seconds to check your feet and your head… your body will thank you for it.

Merry Christmas to all my amazing clients 🎄

Thank you for the effort, consistency, laughs and hard work you’ve brought to every session this year. Whether you showed up feeling strong, tired, motivated or unsure, you still showed up – and that matters more than anything.

I hope you enjoy some well-earned rest, good food, time with the people you love and a proper switch-off. Remember, Christmas is for enjoying, not for guilt or “making up for it” afterwards.

Here’s to feeling strong, confident and looking after ourselves in the year ahead. I can’t wait to get back to it with you in the New Year 💪✨

Merry Christmas ❤️
