Many of those who live in Mitcheldean will know a funny, caring and wonderfully cheery man called David Williams
David, aged 35, passed away this week leaving behind two beautiful little girls, his family and friend groups whose lives he touched for the better.
David watched every run through Covid, often messaging costume ideas, videoing everyday and eventually creating the DVD that so many of you contributed too. He would be out there cheering Martin on and giving him the boost he needed, often capturing the best in action shots.
But this is not where David and Martins friendship started. Martin and his family have had the pleasure of knowing David since he was tiny and some may say the fancy dress started at the Mitcheldean Carnivals where David’s family and their friends all entered with many large groups - from Grease, Peter Pan and the wizard of Oz!
On the Dobby running man day David left out a limited edition of Harry Potter on his wall and a sock.. unbeknownst to Martin what this represented (he is not a potter watcher!) he took the book and sock for part of his run not knowing the value or meaning! His wife frantically awaited his return to make sure he still had both book and sock on his return home!
He now knows Dobby is a free Elf!
David’s laughter was infectious, his impressions never ending and his absolute talents for music, film and comedy go unmatched.
He regularly visited Martin and his family, and when posed with the question “would you like a drink” David would reply “yeah, what cha got?”
To which a life long tradition was started of being offered “tap water, toilet water, rain water, dish water, the dogs water, hot water…”. This continued right up until his last visit a few weeks ago. This is just a small insight into how he could turn the simplest of things into a giggle.
We are all thinking of David’s family and friends and want to remember him today for the pasta bake loving, tap water drinking, hilarious, kind and gentle soul he was ♥️
