And that’s a youth football wrap for this team…the U16s entered 3 summer tournaments, winning the cup in all 3. They now move onto men’s football. If you’re interested in joining Long Wittenham men’s team, they’re always on the look out for new players.

Thanks to the manager, coaches, parents & players who came along on this grassroots youth football journey.

We will remember them.

The U16s second game of the season was away to Tower Hill. The U16s knew this would be a big challenge with Tower Hill being one of the strongest teams in the league. Throughout the game both teams had good chances to take the win but ultimately there wasn’t anything between them both and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Long Wittenham U16s started their season last Sunday at home to Summertown Stars Jaguars with a frustrating 0-0 draw. Wittenham pushed forward throughout the game, hitting the woodwork multiple times, but couldn’t capitalise on their possession.

We would like to congratulate our captain Ben Worrall on his hard work in Kenya this summer.
Ben travelled to Kenya with the YOCO Berinsfield group to spend time at the Nasio trust.
Whilst there he helped build a house for a local family and sponsored a young boy called Timothy. He was able to donate many useful items to the family including clothing, stationary, sowing seeds, a goat, a laying hen and medical insurance.
Ben learned how to check and treat their feet for the removal of ‘jiggers’ a parasitic flea that causes skin infestations.
He also spent time at church, playing football and celebrating with the children and families.
Ben had an unforgettable experience in Kenya and everyone at Long Wittenham are extremely proud of you! 👏🏼 🇰🇪

What a weekend! Long Wittenham Youth held their second tournament welcoming 61 youth teams from as far away as the Isle of Wight! We saw some great goals and games even when we had to contend with some crazy weather conditions!

Thanks to our tournament sponsor Toy Planet for helping us to buy trophies, supplies and run the whole event.

Also thanks to Tesco Didcot Superstore - Community Champions - Becci & Elaine for providing rolls for our bbq, Mmf scaffolding services for providing our podium, our friends at Didcot Town Youth FC for letting us borrow a set of goals and Long Wittenham Athletic Club for helping us host the event.

Same time next year? ⚽️🏆

Tournament season is in full swing for the U15s. On Saturday 1 team was entered into Cholsey tournament and on Sunday we had another in Devizes. Both teams plays some excellent football and scored plenty of goals. They also both ended up winning their respective tournaments! Oxford Youth League U15 Knock Out Cup Day! 🏆⚽️

The U15s have been waiting a long time for today, they’ve gone unbeaten since December and have never been in a better position to meet Didcot Town Youth FC Reds who won the U15 A league on Thursday. Both teams were quick out the blocks and the first half was both physical and fast paced. The teams went into the break 0-0. The second half continued in the same vein but halfway through, Long Wittenham’s Seth was brought down in the box and Archie rifled in the penalty kick 0-1.

Chances continued to fall for both teams then deep into the second half a Didcot shot was parried to another of their player’s who converted to equalise 1-1! Both teams continued to push forward looking for a winner but the game seemed to be going to extra time, until 1 minute from time Tremaine slipped a ball through to Ibrahim. Ibby found himself 1 on 1 with Didcot’s keeper and managed to slot the ball away into the far corner of the goal, final score 2-1 Long Wittenham!

Every single player put a shift today and throughly deserved their victory. Thanks to all from Long Wittenham Athletic Club who came to support, the boys really appreciated it.

Thanks also to our continuing sponsors Didcot Windows and Oxford Composite Wood

Today was ‘A’ League Knock Out Cup Semi-final for the U15s. The boys were drawn against a tough and tenacious Bure Park. Wittenham have fallen short of the final the past couple of seasons, however, today they started strong and with purpose and found themselves 2-0 up within 30 minutes. Bure Park got 1 back not long before half time and continued to apply pressure. Half time gave Wittenham a chance to regroup and they continued the second half as they started the 1st, organised and pushing forward. A second goal by Ibrahim gave the boys some breathing space and pushed them onto a 3-1 victory.

The boys now look forward to a Cup Final against league contenders Didcot Town Youth Reds.

Goals scorers: Ben W and Ibrahim M (x2)

Thanks as always for the support of our sponsors Didcot Windows and Oxford Composite Wood
