105 whips now planted at Long Buckby park. These tiny saplings will hopefully grow into trees that will provide shelter and habitat, encouraging biodiversity. They’ve been strategically placed along the boundary of the park, near to where other plants, shrubs and trees already grow.

If you’d like to get involved in future planting, planning and fundraising please comment below and follow our page.

We’ll be at the park this morning to plant some trees that have been donated by the woodland trust, to help us add diversity to the area and provide much needed shade in years to come.

We’ll be there from 1pm if you’d like to plant your very own tree. Bring some gloves and a spade 🙂

Have you come across the charity “Make Space For Girls”? They provide some really great insights into what makes parks more inclusive for women and girls and in turn, more inclusive for everyone.

This article shows how communities like ours can come together to make inclusive spaces through events they run - something that lots of you said you wanted to see more of.

Have a read and let us know any thoughts below. Is the project run at Rowntrees something you’d like to see in our Rec, too?

Friends of Rowntree Park ran a really successful programme for teenage girls - this is how they did it, and on a tiny budget too.

Please take a moment to give your feedback on the parks local to us in Daventry, Brixworth or Northampton.

As with everything, having our say helps to create a community and county we enjoy living in.

🍃 We would like to hear your feedback on the park you visit the most, so we can prioritise our work plan and help improve our parks and open spaces.

Please complete the survey at https://ow.ly/fnm950PFWS1

🌳🌿TREES FOR THE REC🌱🌲

One of the main pieces of feedback we have had is that you would like to see more planting and trees and natural spaces. As a charity, we're eligible to apply for the Free Trees from the Woodland Trust.

Here are the different packs we can apply for, along with a link below about the different trees. Which packs of trees do you think would suit the Rec? Let us know you're thoughts, but be quick, we only have a few days before the application process closes 🌳🌿🌱🌲

Thank you to everyone who took part in our survey last month. (The survey is still open, so it’s not too late to tell us your thoughts!)

We’ve had well over 100 detailed responses so far, telling us what you love, what you don’t and what you’d like to see in the future.

Here are some info graphics on what you’ve said…

A huge thank you to the volunteers who helped with the project today. From everyone doing the heavy lifting, the lovely tea makers as well as everyone we spoke to about the park.

It’s exciting that the regeneration is underway… now to keep gathering feedback and ideas, work on a fundraising strategy and get some lovely things in place for our children and families to enjoy.

Please note that the ground will be uneven where the rotten timbers have been removed, so take extra care in this area.

Do we have any landscapers in the village that might help us with some ideas for developing the Rec?

Lots of our community have said they'd like:
🪹More natural habitats
🌳Trees
🌱Planting
as well as natural landscaping to encourage more free play.

Could you help us with ideas, plans and how to work out costing? If so, please pop up a DM

Thank you :-)

Hello everyone, we wanted to let you know that tomorrow, Saturday 19th August we'll be having some work done in the toddler area at the Rec.

The wooden structure has become tired, with a few parts needing to be removed to keep it safe for little ones. This area will be out of bounds whilst work is carried out. The rest of the park remains open.

Excitingly, it means that this area will be the first to be regenerated, and we have had a few suggestions of what to put in this little area. We'll be asking you, our community to have the final say on what to put here, so watch this space!

The basket chair at the playground has come to the end of its life and has been kindly taken down by a willing volunteer. We’ll be looking to replace this very soon!

If you have any suggestions for other equipment you’d like to see at the park, please let us know.

This summer, we’ll be pushing the park renovation project forwards, looking at development plans, costs and fundraising plans and will definitely need you guidance, support and help. Watch this space 🤗
