β½οΈπ TOURNAMENT DAY PART 3 πβ½οΈ
With the burgers and chips flying out, and BBQ master Ash's signature cheesy chips proving a huge hit, it was time for the knockout stages! ππ§π₯
Eight teams had battled their way through to the quarter-finals, and what a talented group they were.
With the rain still refusing to let up and the lunch interval coming to an end, the football resumed.
The standard throughout the quarter-finals was incredibly high, with every match tightly contested.
For the neutral spectator, it was a fantastic round of football. The pace was relentless, the movement was sharp and precise, and you would never have guessed the players had already been battling it out all morning. β½οΈπ
Unfortunately, for four teams their tournament journey came to an end, while four progressed to what promised to be a pair of exciting semi-finals.
A special mention goes to our semi-finalists:
π Saints (2)
π Beechwood VI
π Hawkenbury Argyle
π TSE
All four teams had impressed throughout the group stages and quarter-finals, and everyone was eager to see what the semi-finals would bring.
The first semi-final saw Saints (2) take on Beechwood VI.
It was an incredibly close affair, with both sides refusing to give an inch. Neither team could find a winner during normal time, meaning penalties would decide who reached the final.
The shootout went right down to the wire, eventually ending in sudden death before Beechwood VI edged through to become the first-ever SummerSeries finalists. πβ½οΈ
The second semi-final saw TSE face Hawkenbury Argyle.
Both teams entered the match full of confidence and produced a fast-paced, high-quality contest. Chances came at both ends, but TSE managed to edge the game 2-1 and secure the second spot in the final. π₯
The final was set.
π΅ TSE vs π΄ Beechwood VI
With the rain still falling and over eight hours of football already played, the finalists somehow found the energy for one final battle.
An extra five minutes had been added to the final, making it a 20-minute showdown to crown the first-ever SummerSeries champions. π
The whistle blew and the final was underway.
TSE struck first to take an early 1-0 lead, but Beechwood VI responded brilliantly with a well-worked equaliser.
With the game finely balanced and heading towards its closing stages, TSE found a decisive second goal from a corner. Unfortunately for Beechwood VI, there wasn't enough time remaining to mount another comeback.
The final whistle blew.
π TSE WERE CROWNED THE INAUGURAL SUMMERSERIES CHAMPIONS 2026! π
Congratulations to TSE and a huge well done to Beechwood VI, who pushed them all the way in a fantastic final.
A massive thank you goes to every player, every team, every volunteer and every spectator who attended.
The support, encouragement, football banter and positive atmosphere throughout the day made the event truly special. β€οΈβ½οΈ
Following the presentations and the clean-up operation, our team and incredible volunteers headed back to The Moat, one of our valued sponsors, for a well-earned hot meal and drink after a very long but rewarding day. π½οΈπ»
Before we finish, we'd also like to give a special mention to The Foresters Arms in Tonbridge, another fantastic sponsor of SummerSeries. If you're ever in the area and feeling peckish, pop in, say hello to Tyson and treat yourself to one of their incredible pizzas and a pint. ππΊ
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who supported our inaugural SummerSeries Charity Tournament. We couldn't have done it without you all.
πΈ All pictures below are from throughout the day. Apologies if we've missed anyone out!
