📚💜 London Silent Book Club — when one look says it all

Yesterday, we brought our third Silent Book Club pop-up to Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, outside Central Saint Martins.

King’s Cross was still King’s Cross — busy, lively, full of people, movement and noise.

But somehow, right in the middle of all that, we created a little pocket of calm.

Some people stopped to have a look. Some smiled or gave us a little nod. Some found a quiet corner, opened a book, and simply read with us.

No pressure to talk.
No pressure to meet anyone.
No pressure to socialise.

Just a book, 45 minutes of quiet, and a shared moment with people you may or may not know.

You could be sitting there completely by yourself.

And yet, somehow, you weren’t really alone.

Comfortable. Relaxed. Familiar.

Sometimes, one look is enough to understand.

📖 Where Quiet Becomes an Experience.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, volunteered, supported us, stopped by, or simply shared those 45 minutes of quiet with us. 💜

And a special thank you to , who photographed Vol. 1 & 2, and , who captured Vol. 3 for us yesterday. 📸

See you at the next one. 💜📚

📚🤍 3 lovely designs, 1 Silent Book Reading experience!

One of our talented and artistic volunteers has created three beautiful designs for our Silent Book Reading sessions — and now we’d love to know:

Which version do you prefer? 👀✨

Have a look at all three and let us know your favourite in the comments!

And of course, we can’t wait to see many of you tomorrow, Saturday 12 September, at our third Silent Book Reading Pop-Up Session at Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross. 📖

📍 Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross
📅 Saturday 12 September
⏰ Last check-in: 13:00
👕 Dress code: White top 🤍

Please don’t forget to sign up for the pop-up event before 12:00 tomorrow so that one of our team members can check you in properly and welcome you when you arrive.

After check-in, we’ll settle in for our silent reading time together — a chance to slow down, enjoy a book and simply be present. 📖✨

If you’re not sure how to sign up, or if you have any questions about tomorrow’s session, please feel free to drop us a message. We’ll do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all! 🤍📚

Hi everyone! 😊

Tomorrow we’ll be holding our Silent Book Reading pop-up at Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, and we’d love to welcome more people to join our Silent Book Reading session leader team and help out with this community event.

📍 Location: Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, outside Central Saint Martins
🕛 Session leaders arrive: 12:00
📝 Session leader briefing: 12:00–12:45
🕛 Participant check-in: 12:45–13:00
📖 Silent Book Reading: 13:00–13:45
☕ Social: From 13:45

We’re expecting around 8–10 session leaders in total. We already have 5–6 people confirmed, and we’d be very happy to have a few more friends join us and help make tomorrow’s event run smoothly and be even more enjoyable.

🙋 Session leaders will mainly help with:

• Looking after their allocated reading bench
• Welcoming and helping members of the public
• Explaining the Silent Book Reading format and idea
• Helping with participant check-in and our 45-minute free community book-gifting
• Answering any basic questions from people attending

Before the event starts, one of our club directors will give the session leader team a short briefing from 12:00–12:45, so everyone knows the plan, timings and their role for the day.

📸 We’d also love to welcome anyone who enjoys photography!

If you enjoy taking photos and would be happy to help capture a few moments during the event for our community records and social media, you’re very welcome to join us as a photography volunteer.

If you’re free tomorrow and would like to get involved, please feel free to DM👍

A big thank you to everyone who has already joined and to everyone supporting the event. Looking forward to spending a relaxed, quiet and fun 1–2 hours together tomorrow! 💜📚
