🇵🇹 First Euro B completed! 🏁
A weekend full of learning, some really promising pace and plenty of positives to take away as Henry Tomkinson finishes 39th at his first ever EFRA Euro B in Maçainhas-Guarda, Portugal!
Seeding got the weekend off to a brilliant start, with Henry placing 33rd overall and earning a spot in Heat 8 of 9. From there, he put together two really strong qualifying runs, taking a P12 and P16 respectively and showing some great pace against a very competitive field.
🔧 Finals Day
Ahead of the finals, the car received a full rebuild, including diff changes, refreshed shocks and a change to the rear shock oil.
Starting P3 in the 1/4 Final A, Henry made a decent start, dropping just a couple of positions on the opening lap. As the race settled down, he struggled to get comfortable with the changes to the car, before an engine cut later in the race ultimately left him P11 at the finish.
But there was still the Junior Final to come!
Starting from pole position, Henry got away well and held the lead before some scrappy battles through the opening laps. After six laps, he was running P2 and still right in the fight.
Unfortunately, on lap seven, slight contact with another car over the final jump sent Henry into a wooden board, snapping the A-block pill and bringing his race to an early end.
Not quite the ending we wanted, but overall a really positive first European Championship experience. The soft and extremely bumpy Maçainhas track was unlike anything Henry had raced on before, making it a huge learning experience both on and off the track.
A massive thank you to Nemo Racing and everyone who helped throughout the weekend. Plenty learned, some really encouraging pace shown, and lots to build on.
First Euro B in the books. Next stop… the Worlds! 🇺🇸🌎
