As the greatest Major of the year is about to begin, what a great time to do a small prize draw.

Tag your friends/playing partners in what their tee shot would be (1,2,3 or 4) I will enter all names into a draw and announce the prize on Sunday at the end of the masters 2023.

Me personally I would be pic number 2 😂😂

Good luck 👊🏻

Nicky in this morning having an assessment for his short game.

Started with:
Trackman test centre / random yardages, from 40-120
Outdoor work focusing on proximity, shot selection, club selection relative to shot, land spot, expectation.

Started with some simple tests such as:
Fringe bump and run
Green side trap
30 yard pitch from rough
Chip from bare lie
Short sided to flag

Results were interesting, now it’s time to build a blueprint, getting proximity tighter to give more opportunities to get up and down.

How do you assess your short game?

Want to create a system that’s reliable to your wedge game?

It amazes me the amount of amateur golfers that think they can guess from inside 100 yards and expect to hit it close.

To begin certain factors need to be taking into consideration:

- What’s the distance to the flag?
- Where’s the flag relative to front or back of the green
- Where do you want the ball to land and what’s the yardage to that point?
- What flight are you hitting your ball into that land spot?

The average player doesn’t spend enough time hitting balls at different distances to get a consistent land spot so an idea to try next time your at the range is :

Hit 10 shots with 9,pw,sw and work out average carry distance.

Repeat with half swings, this can be based on choosing a body location to swing to I.e (rib to rib) L swing or 9 o’clock on a clock face.

NOTE THAT WHERE YOU SWING BACK TO GOING BACK, TRY AND SWING TOO COMING THROUGH.

Chances are you may have some cross overs in yardages but they will be on different heights/flights. Covering more distances and land spots

Give it a go 👊🏻👊🏻 and let me know your numbers.

This article is just awesome from student and friend if you are interested in golf, just learning or have been playing for years, give this a read. It’s a true insight! I’m honoured to have been mentioned and even more so to have the job of being coach. Keep up the hard work girl ⛳️⛳️⛳️

You’ve started your 2023 with one aim, ‘To be more consistent at golf’ but what in? There’s so many factors that lead to consistency in golf.

When you look at the image, these are 3 of the best ball strikers on tour. Now for us everyday amateurs just trying to better our games and lower our handicaps let’s in 2023 give up trying to be perfect, toss out perfect swing planes, throw away trying to strike it perfect every time.

Replace it with:

- learning your individual pattern, what is your tendency when you hit the ball
- find out with technology such as or dry hair shampoo where you strike the ball consistently with 10 balls

Work on consistently hitting the ball in the same place throughout the bag, once you know your patterns and tendencies then you can get to work on making them better, with that will bring more CONSISTENCY

Better distance plus more importantly in this game, more confidence personally which is crucial.

Some change from after few months off. Struggled with contact and low point issues early on with shots off the toe and tops but once we got some width back into the right arm and control of the radius it was straight back to where we left off. Clean up impact coming next but great change in just under an hour

90/90/90 drill if you don’t know you need to check it out

Absolute gold from this is such a great drill for anyone having low point contact issues. This is an area of golf I focus on daily with all my students to improve.

Watch till the very end, if you can do the drill as he is, your ball striking is really going to go up a notch

Here’s a good look at how hits the draw with the driver…

1- Clubshaft parallel, club face matches spine angle, hands and club have travelled in

2- Hands left arm parallel to the floor are in line with right bicep, highlighting depth to the backswing

3- Knees changing flex allow Alex to rotate and tilt his pelvis freely, whilst maintaining upper body tilt

4- Shaft under right forearm illustrates the club has shallowed in the downswing and approaching the ball from the inside

5- Shoulders square, forearms slightly closed, hips open

6- Arms straight, extending through the shot

Usually slices are the polar opposite of this with, hands working out away from the body with an open face, steep backswing (no depth), steep tradition club outside body, forearms shoulders overly open, chicken wing arms through.

The secret is in the dirt…

If you think your hitting enough balls, your probably not..

If you think your doing enough rehearsals, your probably not…

If you think your playing enough simulation games on the range, your probably not….

If you think your short game is ok if you just get those tee shots better, it’s probably not…

Without being negative, we can all do more, we can all vary practice, we can make out practice sessions more constructive, more challenging, more performance based, point based to retain motivation etc etc

Going into 2022, I’ll be highlighting some of these for you all to try. Let’s make 2022 your best season yet, it all starts now!!!

prescribing one of my favourite drills to improve contact.

Every player wants to hit it either more solid or more consistently ball turf. This is the drill for you.

Scratch a tee on the grass or use spray paint, for those on mats at the range use chalk or dry hair shampoo.

In my opinion should be incorporated to everyone’s warm up or practice for first 10mins…

Won’t be the last time I mention this drill… but that’s 2 players now in and prescribing the drill. Don’t be searching on random YouTube drills, do this and do it ASAP 👊🏻
