Last Sunday marked the end of our busiest month ever.
We decided - always a little last minute, as true spontaneous Cariocas - to run a Mixed Doubles Tournament: the Bola Open 2026.
I personally love those days. They’re simply the best. I love to see how friendly competitions have such a positive impact on people.
We had 14 pairs divided in groups and playing some warm up games that helped split pairs into two different draws, that we named Gold & Silver draw.
All the favorites ended up losing along the day, the tournament was full of surprises.
Loz & cameraman ieuan playing the game for the very first time ended up as the Champions of the silver draw 🏆. Congrats guys!
The Gold draw had great matches, with pretty much every single one of them ending with a super tiebreaker. Shout out to & patrick lindblom who came down from 4-7 in the super tie to beat & Jesse Laitinen advancing to the semis. Possibly the best match of the tournament.
The other side of the draw had a surprising run from padel master Vincenzo Salfi & Maria Clara Giuberti Tamagno playing together for the first time and going to the semis.
We were very happy to see a final of four of Bola’s OGs, players that have been working very hard transferring their tennis skills to the sand courts and showing great improvement.
Kieran Patel & Catarina Araujo played a great tournament beating some tough pairs along the way and fighting til the end. Great to run!
Final was decided on a 3rd set and crowned the best players of the day - Carolin Sievers & Indy.
